Here is a question for all students of breeding. What tail female influences made American Pharaoh capable of winning at 10 and 12 furlongs?

When no one is bred for 12 furlongs anymore, then you just need to be the fastest, not the one with the most endurance.

Are you suggesting that AP has no staying gene in him?

LittlePrincessEmma, her dam's pedigree is, of course, here, along with Pioneer of the Nile's.

EDIT to add: LPE's pedigree, alone, going further back.

I was greatly surprised ,Never thought he could end up winning the Classic distances. I've always followed back to the Dam and Grand Dam and they didnT impress me much over a mile . What a fantastic easy going personality too . Mr Zayat hit the jackpot!

Cool question.
I have no clue.
I'll guess.........If you go way back to Hoop Mood/Miss Mood you might find it around there(along with the large heart gene from Mahmoud).
