In case you haven't seen this... HANA got mentioned in this article:

What Horseplayers Want

Horse racing’s biggest customers are often its harshest critics. They love the thrill of cashing tickets, but get frustrated by the issues and problems that they see so clearly. We asked horseplayers from across Canada what they really want. And they weren’t shy in telling us.

I think I fixed it to make it clearer by moving the link inside the quote.

You're right. I didn't realize you had to subscribe.

Someone sent me a copy by email.

I googled the article and found the link above and just posted the link. I thought the whole article appeared below the first paragraph, but I didn't actually bother to look until just now.

Sorry about that.

I will post the part about HANA.

Here's the part about HANA:

Rawlinson emphasizes the most obvious
but overlooked ingredient in maintaining
a healthy base of horseplayers and healthy
handle — new customers. It’s such a common
oversight, the Horseplayers Association
of North America (HANA) website doesn’t
include the lack of new, young bettors on
its “Where the Game is Broken” list. “They
[tracks] still focus all efforts on increasing
purse money, not the number of permanent,
repeat customers willing to bet their money.

Hey thanks for helping out---good read. I found it interesting the older guy who remembered exactly what his 1st winner paid (his 1st horse bet) $11.40 and that was when a coke was a nickel. thanks--NCG

Here's the part about HANA:

Biggest problem isn't acquiring new customers its not treating current customers like gold. Threat people like gold and word of mouth will fill the grandstands, not too many current players are gung ho to bring newbies to the track.
