A nice big competative field to kick off Whitney weekend at Saratoga. Chad Brown sends out five, including the two Klaravich horses Takeover Target and Startup Nation.
World Approval for Mark Casse was last seen just getting up by a neck in the G3 American Derby at Arlington. It was a pretty solid effort earning a Beyer of 86. He's won 2 of 3 races at 1 1/16 miles and his turf form is great.
Takeover Target is the 1 of 5 Chad Brown horses in here. He's coming off a disappointing fifth in the Belmont Derby Invitational, but I think he's better going at shorter distances than 1 1/4 miles. He should appreciate the comeback. Note, the Belmont Derby was his only bad race. Prior to that, he was 2 for 3 on turf lifetime.
Night Prowler is another promising participant. He was just beaten by a head in the G3 Penn Mile to Force the Pass, who went on to win the before-mentioned Belmont Derby by 3 3/4 lengths. Night Prowler is 3 for 7 on turf lifetime and has won going 1 1/16 miles (over soft turf, however).
Bill Mott's runner A Lot is making really good progress. He was narrowly beaten in the Manila to Gallery. He also has a couple of graded stakes placings under his belt. He ran second to Night Prowler in the G3 Dania Beach and second again in the G2 American Turf to Divisidero, a promising 3-year-old turf colt.
There are a couple of price horses to throw in. #6 Sailthehighseas (20-1) is shipping to New York after some solid turf races in Kentucky. His most recent race was winning a N1X allowance at Ellis Park setting the pace. He gets a big class test but with his excellent turf form, he should do something in here. #11 Courtier (15-1) has been out since January when he ran in the Kitten's Joy at Gulfstream. He was just beaten by Dubai Sky who went on to win the G3 Spiral at Turfway. Just like some others in here, he also boasts some good turf routing ability.
