9th @Mountaineer: 6F F&M Clm5000N1Y ~ pure $6,300 ~ 8/4
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fillies & Mares, 3YO+Up, non-winners of a race in 12 months.
(WV-Bred races not considered in eligibility)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
No new faces, no drop-downs, one runner goes route-2-sprint,
& one returns from Hazel Park. Two others make 2nd local start.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) Jackie G. (20/1 ML)- 8YO is 0/33 locally,last win 6/22/12~7F@CT.
2) Special Jak (6/1)- 9YO gets 510 yard cutback. Last sprint? 2011.
Crafty owner/trainer usually win with private purchase shippers.
3) Ty Wonder (9/2)- 10YO just missed last out. Last win 6/21/11.
Could win,but do you really want 9/2ml on horse winless in +4 years?
4) Ivory Tickle (10/1)- 8YO improved 2nd local start.Last win 7/2/13.
5) Starship Quality (8/1)- 6YO's last win 8/4/13. N4L eligible, this is
easier spot. Solid under key in verticals, but a win proposition shaky.
6) Posh Lady (20/1)- 8YO has been on speed+fade schedule in 2015.
Last win 5/13/14, N1-12mo. @FairmountPark. Target speed.
7) Space of Time (8/1)- 7YO goes 2nd off layoff w/positive rider
change. Bet down to 3/1 in last, but was #LostInSpace. Form reversal?
8) Leggy Laura (10/1)- Closed late in local debut. Lack of early lick
big issue, but strong connections & Lagunes sticks. Expect improvement.
9) Rain Forest (4/1)- Solid stalking speed means 6YO should get cozy
trip & 1st run on deep closers. 6F biggest question, but looks tough.
10) Keen Smile (3/1 ML Fave)- Owner/Trainer/breeder that's 26/109
since 2012 brings 7YO back to WV in Easy spot. Low % rider named.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EARLY LOOK: ML Faves #9-10 draw favorable outside posts.
Neither inspire enough confidence to single, but look like must-use in
Pick-5 wagers.
#'s 3-5 finished 2nd/3rd in July 14 race that six of these ran in, including
2nd choice ML. Of the six, i'll use #9 & #8, who was making local debut.
#2-Special Jak goes route-2-sprint for sharp connections,
& #7-Space of Time was dreadful in local debut, but feel she can improve
2nd over oval.
I'm going Three Deep in my Pick-5: #'s 8-9-10.
In Pick-4, i'll try to beat both ML faves, but still 3 deep: #'s 2-7-8.
If KO'd from P-5/P-4 by the 8th, i'll use #'s 7-8 in Late DD.
Good Luck to all, & see you at Night School!

8th @Mountaineer: 1Mile (8F) F&M Alw20700N4X ~ purse $20,700 ~ 8/4
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fillies & Mares, 3YO+Up, non-winners of Four races lifetime.
(WV-Bred races not considered in eligibility)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Two shippers go Tapeta-2-Dirt,the ML Fave,& one stretching out 1st time.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) Jannes Paul (20/1 ML)- EARLY SCRATCH
2) Akasha (6/1)- 5YO goes Turf-2-dirt, N3L eligible. Not fast enough.
3) Suzy Blue Light (5/2 ML Fave)- 4YO goes Tapeta-2-dirt stepping
up in class on paper, but has faced tougher stock. Speed of the Speed?
4) Ja Quellin (8/1)- 3YO tries 2 turns 1st time on dirt. Dam offspring
are 5/57 in dirt routes. Speedy New face threat if she can get distance.
5) Gyda Ddawn (10/1)- 4YO adds 2F, Dam offspring 8/37 dirt routes.
Done little since private purchase off big win (seldom a profitable angle).
6) Sweet Sound (6/1)- 3YO steps up, adds 2 furlongs. Tab for future.
7) Unchained Energy (10/1)- 6YO makes 14th start of 2015 while
trying route for 1st time in 23 starts.
8) Lucy's Revenge (9/2)- 4YO's lone route vs.G3 foes. Closing
sprinters are often overbet & underperform going long.
9) Crack Your Whip (4/1)- Second-choice ML steps up & goes long.
Pair of thirds here in 2014 at two turns. Tough post.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EARLY LOOK:
I hate to be a "Chalk-Eating Weasel",
& seldom back faves stepping up in class,
but #3-Suzy looks like a "Blue Light Special" in her local debut.
Eat the 3/2 odds in Horizontal wagers, & move on.
I'll take a stand against runners that have been facing each other.
#'s 2-6-7-8-9.
I might try a $2 Late DD using #'s 4-5, if speed doing well early in card.
Good Luck to ALL, & see you at Night School!
