He's been hot and cold lately.
Some of his rides the last few months have left me scratching my head.
This might explain it:

Oh, the irony, if he was taken off his mounts for booze, as the last horse he rode was "Tequila Mary".

I like Kent as a rider, and he's got one of the more animated personalities in the game. I hope his latest issues are migraines, or something else which can be treated. The demons of drugs and alcohol are tough to beat.

I don't think it's a coincidence this happened at del mar. Jocks without strong will power can easily give into temptation. It's summer at Del Mar, it's hard to stay 'in your room' after the races. Also, if this is an alcohol related situation it's not like the chrb would ban him for life, he knows the drill, you get as many chances as you need.

Is there any subject beyond the reach of your grand wisdom?

I mean, here you are opining on the jockey lifestyle at Del Mar. You are indeed a fountain.

He failed a breathalyzer test...

Desormeaux, who has been taken off mounts for alcohol-related violations in the past while riding at Belmont Park (http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/racetracks/6/belmont-park) and Woodbine (http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/racetracks/28/woodbine), said his breathalyzer test was a false positive. The jockey said he blew a .00 blood-alcohol content reading Thursday, then took a drink of the carbonated water he was consuming the day prior, and blew a .02 reading.

"I just proved the breathalyzer was tampered by the carbonated water I was drinking," Desormeaux said in a text message Thursday. "It blows up the test. The gas, I guess."

His carbonated water had fermented. False positive.

His denial means we will see this again. Likely over and over again.
