Here is my letter to the editor of the local newspaper. I hope they print it.

Those the had worked at the Meadows for so many years will NOT be happy to know that Adios Week is history. Looking at the entries for the Meadows for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, all races scheduled are overnight events. NOT ONE STAKE. Yes my friends and former coworkers those carpetbaggers that bought the Meadows (track that Delvin G. Miller built) had diminished the founder's dream to just a weekend event. Either the Meadows will have over 50 races just for stakes Friday and Saturday (that were held in the past Adios Week) or the stake entrants have fallen dramatically. Those elected (bribed) officials in Harrisburg told us this was to save horse racing so they brought in the slots. Now it appears Adios events are now going away, bit by bit, each year. That is what happens when we believe the politicians we elected.

Really have a hard time comprehending the fact that only 21 stakes races are offered this year on Adios Weekend. Six on Friday and 15 (including the Adios Consolation) on Saturday.

The Governor Lawrence, a two year old colt pace has never had ONLY three (3) divisions. What has happened to this sport?

We were told by both horsemen and track owners in the senate and house committee meetings that this sport would improve both in the breeding sheds and at the track with more and better horses. What we have received is less and less.

I hold the state, the track and the everyone associated with this sport accountable. They killed it.

Top it off, I have yet to see a single commercial on television that promotes the sport of harness racing. Constantly seeing casino commercials for both Rivers in the burgh and Meadows Casino but nothing about horse racing.

The only thing I saw was a Washington County promotional commercial that also mentioned racing.

Bobby, I guess all we can do at this juncture of the "state of our sport", is to enjoy it as best that we can, until it just Fades-Away.... :(

Kash
I am having a hard time accepting the reality of this. I am starting to run out of energy writing letters to the editor, letters to my elected officials, tired period.

At least message boards like this gives me a chance to vent it all out so I can get back to the real world and the real problems facing our lives.

I have to detach myself from my history of my time in harness racing. I hope I can or I will be a very bitter old man, heck I am that today.

Thanks to PA and all in here to help me keep my sanity in this insane world of harness racing with slot fuel purses and decline in horses/talent.
