When is an entry not an entry? The :2: and :3: were a coupled entry on June 5th in the G2 New York at odds of .35 per dollar bet. Today, the ml for :2: is 7-2 and the :3: is listed at 15-1. Aside from that tidbit, the :3: will have company on the front with the $2 million darling :6: who found a home in first turf test, last outing.
Race is very competitive. Here's my analysis:
:1: ml favorite following three consecutive wins - last two G1, G2. will sit stalking :3: and :6: . Has twice failed at today's distance.
:2: Ran wide in aforementioned New York and continued on like the champion she is. Will be better positioned today, saving important ground.
:3: Faces tougher test today, may not have lead which is only way she has won in visible pps
:4: G1 winner at distance, has attractive ml at 5-1. Will benefit if pace is quick
:5: Won while saving ground vs. :2: last out. Shortens in distance, 8-1 seems about right
:6: Showed what $2 million can buy when sent on turf, last out. Early and late splits are stakes quality and that is who she meets here. Big jump in class and looks formidable if she gets easy lead and controls.
:7: Closed faster than :1: in last. Stablemate of :6: Good chance to balloon vertical payoffs. Prefer to complete trifecta.
