Don't "sitcoms", by definition, have to be COMEDIES? :)

The Big Bang Theory.
I am not a fan of old comedies because humor is usually so dated.

I was shocked to see this omitted this far along. I almost amended my list.

I remember and enjoyed seeing all of those that have been listed...And, I could make a list too...

But of all of them, I have a very hard time separating these two:

Taxi & Mash...The quality of the casts and the storylines and the humor were simply incredible and consistent and funny...And so many of those actors went on to do other things with equal success'...

It went downhill after that. Every time I see Trapper giving financial advice on TV, I can't get past his hijinks on this sitcom.

I agree with Goren. Most sitcoms are reflective of a particular era. It's rare to find one that later generations can connect with.

I Love Lucy and Seinfeld are rare exceptions.

I like Modern Family today. I have no idea if it will have legs.

Seems what I find funny has changed over the years. I can remember my college football buddies and I laughing our asses off and wouldn't even miss Benny Hill for a date with a hot chick. I could barely sit through 15 minutes of it the other day when my girlfriend's brother was watching it.

Flipside: Friends is quite possibly one of the worst written and acted shows produced in the history of television. Even Jennifer Anniston perpetually poking through whatever she was wearing was not worth the torture of watching the horrible acting.
