Too terrible to contemplate. At least they've been on top of the issue.

What? Laminitis can strike very quickly. I see nothing that rings untrue about this story. My biggest concern is that she's at the track instead of a clinic, and it may be too late to move her.

From what I gathered from a tweet NTRA sent out on behalf of her connections, the staff they've assembled is coming to her.

Sad, sad, stuff guys... :(

This is devastating :(

Is it true it was all over stepping on a nail after the race?

How of all horses is SHE the one who stepped on it?? What are the odds unless there's a ton of debris? I believe I'd be getting the nails cleaned up and kept that way..plenty of ways to ensure that.

The nails don't discriminate. Others who step on them you never hear of.

Unfortunately correct on both fronts :(

Prayers for Lady Eli, she really needs them; while everything possible is being done for her. Such a brilliant filly.

"She has excellent hoof growth and is moving comfortably," said Brown. "She gets out to graze for 30 minutes daily in my courtyard, and she's really enjoying that. This can often be a long process, but we couldn't be more pleased with her progress."

Maybe I'm getting greedy given the good news on her health prospects, but I hope she makes it back to the races too. She could be really special.

Chad's assistant, calls her life, right now, "my summer with Lady Eli." She has horses at Belmont, and too, after training, she goes back and forth, morning and late afternoon, to spend more time with LE. Taking her out to graze, etc.

LE's got a world of attitude; she can be mean as a snake. She's always been tough. At this point, she won't let anybody close to her or in her space except Cherie. And this is a good thing. All of us should have the spirit to fight that she has.
