CALIFORNIA CHROME DIAGNOSED WITH A BRUISED CANON BONE,
OUT FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR, POSSIBLY FOREVER.

I POSTED MY THOUGHTS ON JUNE 15TH, TERRIBLE STORY HOW AN HONEST HORSE WAS PLACED IN HARM'S WAY BY HIS MORONIC
OWNERS.

how specifically was he placed in harms way?

Let the shit stirring begin.....

Same can be said for Shared Belief's connections, I suppose?

Ridiculous.

These are fragile animals that can get hurt - anytime, anywhere.

Agree.

He has raced all of 5 times in the last 13 months including a nice break on the turf for a solid victory at Hollywood.

Wasn't a huge fan of the pond move to Meydan or Ascot, but they weren't pushing the horse to produce. He has always had solid breaks to do what a champion horse can do.

Obviously owners/trainers made poor decisions with Cigar, Silver Charm, Street Cry, Roses In May, Invasor, and Curlin by running them in the richest race in all the world? :faint:

let's see, the horse showed ran his eyeballs out on the dirt, won
a minor turf race, so ship him overseas and aim for the Royal Ascot.

How many top trainers in the U.S. would sign off on that thought??

BTW, aren't there enough turf courses in the U.S. ,and if this
horse was "meant" for the grass, why not place him in a Graded
Stakes in the U.S. and then ship overseas.

That thought would be logical, but then again just blink on what happened
and move on?????????????

You know that he defeated the shoemaker mile winner (G1) in that "minor" (G1) race
And that he hadn't won a dirt race?since last years preakness.

Unless they're trained by Lukas....right?

If a DWL horse gets injured but is being managed correctly, races spaced nicely, running as a contender and not a 50-1 shot than he won't be criticized. The times I've seen DWL critique was when the poster thought mismanagement was the underlying cause of the injury. Also, when you are in the top 10'of all time greats you're held to a higher standard.

He was put in harms way because he was not a happy horse, and therefore his health was put in jeopardy. When he got to England, he spent 2 weeks in the back of his barn, lonely, wondering when he'd see a familiar face, very likely not eating as well as he should have. The minute he didn't respond in England, they should have sent him home to HIS people, the ones he knew, and who knew him.

I do the same thing when I agree with a post but hate giving credit and hate that the person posting was right. I just say 'if' four times instead of saying 'great point I agree'

Btw any reason we can't get more emoticons?

I wouldn't doubt that thought, but when I stop and think about this
wonderful T Bred, all I can think about is the moronic spokesman for
DAP ,Mr. C. and his insane maneuvers.

Hoping this ownership finally sees the light and thinks about how
generous this horse was to them, and, if required, retire the horse
before PETA jumps this mess

Sherman gave them a very accurate status report after Dubai, and if they chose to ignore it and say, hey we're sending him to England, that's their prerogative. But after he sat in England for a couple of days and didn't show any signs of life, the words Sherman gave them should have flooded back into their heads and they should have aborted immediately.

STORY JUST GOT BETTER;

Taylor Made didn't just put up $ to DAP to secure an interest in CC.

They bought out Coburn.

Gee, I wonder why; Perhaps his partners elected to dump him?

Or, Coburn had enough of Martin's decision making?

Be interesting to find out how much Coburn got.
It could prove to be a very shrewd move.

I still think people have lost their minds when it comes to California Chrome and his owners.

He won a turf race, one with a couple of stakes winners.

There is even turf breeding in his pedigree.

Yet, the popular logic is, he didn't deserve a shot at Royal Ascot. OK well that makes sense.

I've read it a lot. I read he didn't belong at Ascot because he's a dirt horse, and that Talco and Lexie Lou were optional claimers more than enough times.

Talco is a recent open g1 winner on turf in southern california, and cc hasn't won on dirt in over a year.

Well, these owners are dumb as hell. How the hell you let your money maker's career go down the tubes??
