Of course everyone is free to vote, what I meant was, I hope the poll will help gauge more than just the outspoken dozen or so who post regularly.

Since you did not hqave an option for "depends on the issue" I chose 1 of your choices. Lieberman.

My take is PA members say if we have to go to war, go invade Tikrit, get all the opposition weapons, and take care of business or stay the heck out. Vietnam burned Americans out as far as "holding and getting killed" actions.
If the war is the decider for who you like, I would trust Lieberman most again these guys.

Actually, I am impressed with Liberman. When he talks, he sounds sincere, intelligent, and has made som egood points recently.
He is the kind of guy you could call the loyal opposition, not the enemy.

But Andy, you forgot one catagory "A Tad East of Michael Savage" LOL

The scariest part of this survey is that Kerry is listed as mainstream Democrat!

Actually he's a bit too conservative for a lot of Democrats tastes, and too liberal for others, so he's a mainstream Democrat. I suppose to ultra-conservatives, he would be an ultra-liberal but objectively that is really untrue when you look at Dems like Kucinich, Teddy Kennedy (he's Kerry's mentor but much more liberal than him on most issues. Of course with Kerry you can't really tell where he stands because he does change his mind so often. I did not support him for the nomination and felt all along he would be one of the weakest candidates because everyone would figure a Democrat from Mass. has to be an ultra-liberal. A stereotype that just is not always true.)

Just like "mainstream" Republican has moved markedly to the right in recent years.

No ideology or partisanship here, just analysis.

The "Rockefeller" Republicans are all but gone -- good riddence, the conservatives say. In 1972, the left-wing did the same to the moderate Dems and it was disaster for the party.

The question in this year's election, is what will the "moderate" Republicans or centrist/center-right Independents (the Olympia Snow crowd) do this year?

One probably with this poll is there is really no place for someone like John McCain, very conservative on some issues (anti-abortion for example), and more moderate on others (the environment, campaign spending, etc.).

I disagree with McCain on many issues, but greatly admire him as a man and a politician who says what's on his mind. He's been tacking a bit left lately -- interesting because Arizona is no longer as conservative as it was in the days of Barry Goldwater.

I am curious if the "others" are left of center/dead-on center/or right of center. Or all over the map depending on the issue. I would consider Lieberman overall a bit left-of-center despite his conservative views on Hollywood and values as well as foreign policy. He's more liberal on the environment, abortion, aid to cities and mass transit, consumer issues, and would likely have appointed centrist federal judges.

Choices were: none; 2 Chaney; 2 moderate; 5 democrat to socialist.
Since your poll choices lean so radically left no wonder you are surprised by common sense!
