CJ,
Right on with your answers to question 8. Actually, I had forgotten that Tom Ainslie had written both thoroughbred and harness race handicapping books. And here I thought Barry Meadow was the only author to do such a feat! I stand corrected! Thanks for the reminder about Tom Ainslie.
Well, in a way I was partly right. Tom Ainslie only wrote one book on harness race handicapping, while Barry Meadow wrote two. As I recall, Barry's harness handicapping books were entitled:
1. SUCCESS AT THE HARNESS RACES
2. PROFESSIONAL HARNESS BETTING
Thanks,
T2W
Best guesses, this is not easy info to find!
5. Time trial - 1:46 1/5/ Cambest,h/ Springfield, IL - 8/16/93
5. Race - 1:47 3/5/ Jenna's Beach Boy,h/ The Meadowslands - 6/22/96
6. Trainer, driver and co-owner, Clint Galbraith
They records seem a little old to me, but its the best I could find.
7. Bill O'Donnell, Keith Clark
10. Grand River Raceway
Can you tell I'm bored today :)

1. Sudbury Downs , Northern Ontario
2. Fraser Downs , Vancouver

Okay, time to review the replies so far:
--CJ correctly answered QUESTIONS 5, 6, 7, 8, and part of 10. Good show! The other answer to QUESTION 10 is Elora, Ontario.
--A side note on the answer to QUESTION 5. I was looking for the answer of Jenna's Beach Boy. I wasn't aware of the time trial clocking by CAMBEST. I just learned something new there.
--ZAFONIC had the correct answer to QUESTION 4. Kudos to you!
--SQ had the correct answers to QUESTION 4 and 5. Kudos to you too!
No one has come up with the correct answers to QUESTIONS 1, 2, 3, and 9 yet.
--Got a kick out of SQ's quip to QUESTION 7...Well...CJ gave the right answer.. It is the kind of question though, that perhaps only Canadians would know.

CJ,
Oops! Sorry...no offensive meant to any other nationalites in my comments about Canadians and my post about the answer to QUESTION 7. I don't want people to interpret that post the wrong way.

CJ,
E for effort, but Ocean Downs, Maryland is not the correct answer to QUESTION 3.

Had to try, I'm from MD. By the way, Mark Cramer also wrote a Harness Book:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/089746026X/qid=1086206834/sr=1-12/ref=sr_1_12/002-3176901-1445602?v=glance&s=books
Harrington? Scarborough? I'm stumped!

CJ,
I've read about that Mark Cramer harness handicapping book before. As I recall, Mark intended to write the book, but never did.
--Re the answer to QUESTION 3, check the clues in my post in reply to ZAFONIC's answers. ZAFONIC was very close in his answers to QUESTIONS 2 and 3.
--That's what makes some trivia questions fun. Some answers are a bit tougher to come up with than others. Makes it challenging. Don't want to make it too easy!

CJ,
Congratulations! Lakeview Downs is the correct answer to QUESTION 3. You haven't quite got the right province. Lakeview Downs is located in St. John's, Newfoundland. I must confess I thought the track was named St. John's Raceway. I stand corrected.
That only leaves QUESTIONS 1, 2 an 9 left to be answered. Persistence is paying off.

CJ, you need some more hobbies :-)
T2W, would you believe 10 days ago I was walking around St Johns New Brunswick (Not New Finland).. I saw Exhibition Park..
and 9 days ago I was in Halifax, Nova Scotia.. Checking out Peggy's Cove (That sounds sickening as I write it)

CJ,
--Kudos! Sandown Park is the correct answer to QUESTION 2. It's located in Sidney, B.C. on Vancouver Island.
--Now, only QUESTIONS 1 and 9 remain to be answered.

#2 must be pretty close to as far north as the #1 answer, just too many tracks to search tonight!

CJ,
--No...the answer to QUESTION 2 is not even close to the answer of QUESTION 1.
--Some online searches re harness racing tracks and/or online North America maps might give some more clues.

Gillenr,
There's two harness tracks that I know of on P.E.I. They are Charlottetown Driving Park and Summerside Raceway.

Queensbury Downs , Regina Sask. ???

ZAFONIC,
No, the answer to QUESTION 1 isn't Queensbury Downs in Regina, Saskatchewan.
Time to give a clue to the answers of QUESTIONS 1 and 9, that nobody's answered correctly yet:
--Look to the province of Alberta for the correct answers to QUESTIONS 1 and 9.

Northlands Park ??

ZAFONIC,
You're getting closer to the correct answer to QUESTION 1. Northlands Park isn't quite the right answer to QUESTION 1...although, if I had asked the question as:
--What is North America's most northerly A-circuit type harness track, then Northlands Park would have been the correct answer.
As you know or may not know, Northlands Park is a dual-purpose racetrack that conducts both thoroughbred and harness races at different times during the year.

Twin River Downs in Newfoundland ?

Wait you said Province of Alberta. Can't be Stampede Park.
HMMM
ZAFONIC
Whoop-Up Downs Race Track, Lethbridge, Alberta
What a name for a track LOL

ZAFONIC,
No....sorry... Whoop Up Downs isn't the correct answer either to QUESTION 1. Whoop Up Downs is a B-circuit racetrack located in Lethbridge, Alberta, which is south of Calgary.
T2W
T2W,
If it is in Alberta , it must be a minor circuit. Aside from Stampede and Northlands there is nothing else listed on Standardbred.ca
Any more clues ???

ZAFONIC,
Well, your persistence might pay off yet. I'll admit you're right about the correct answer to QUESTION 1 being a minor circuit (B-circuit) racetrack.
In late June, the harness races are finished at Northlands Park. A fair amount of the harness horses that raced there, will be heading northwest to race at this B-circuit, dual-purpose racetrack for three or four weeks. Then a lot of the harness horses, will ship south to Stampede Park in Calgary in late July to race there.
T2W
It took a lot of digging to find this one. Actually I never heard of it before.
Millarville
Tell me thats right.
If so I need a clue about the Harness announcer who wrote a handicapping book.
Whoa boy, I must have too much free time
ZAFONIC
No wait it must be Evergreen Park in Grande Prairie as Millarville is South.
ZAFONIC

ZAFONIC,
Hooray! Congratulations. Evergreen Park in Grande Prairie, Alberta is the correct answer to QUESTION 1.
If I was writing these harness racing trivia questions for the TV show "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire", I think probably QUESTIONS 1 and 9 would have been reserved for $64,000 questions and above that amount LOL.
--Only QUESTION 9 remains. I have this author's harness handicapping book in my handicapping library bookshelf. I've noticed it's for sale at the odd place online. A little more detective work online, and a PA member should be able to come up with the answer.

After thinking it over, I've decided to reveal the answer to QUESTION 9. If you live outside of Alberta, the answer to this question would probably too difficult to find. Check out the link below. Especially check out the only review of his book!:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1551971313/qid=1086247632/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i1_xgl14/002-4547412-4537601?v=glance&s=books&n=507846
Murray Slough is the announcer of the harness races at Stampede Park in Calgary, Alberta. He also was the announcer at the harness races at Whoop Up Downs in Lethbridge, Alberta the past several years. In addition, he does some announcing of the harness races at Northlands Park in Edmonton, Alberta, when the usual announcer, Jonathon Huntington is absent.

It took the boys awhile to come up with the fine Grand Prairie question and also knew that nobody would ever get the Murray question. Too much of an Alberta bias.
I disqualified myself under the quiz rules as being the owner of the horse who holds the track record at Whoop Up Downs/Lethbridge.
:D
Are you guys Flames fans  or Oilers fans :( ?
