I disagree. I know Blood-Horse does not see this as a positive (June 2014 vs. June 2015) but race days down about 6% and with races down about 8% this is an adjustment that's coming and is needed for less races with better quality....eventually. Starts are also down about 8% which is no good and washes that out, there are just not enough horses for the races they want to card. Also, they should look at this "Big Day Theory" over again. Its great for us regulars but normal people don't give a crap. Belmont card (June 6) handle went down 10% from 2014 with American Pharoah going for the Triple Crown. The big days are nice and all but there may be more "bang for the buck" stretching some of the stakes races out. Now they are doing this for Travers Day, we shall see.........The attitude of "more is better" has to go. Of course, Blood-Horse probably does not see things that way. When there are more owners and more horses then they should worry about that. Race days and races has to be curtailed at this time. Its like they don't even acknowledge the 4 and 5 horse fields that are being put out there. Then act like the handle going down is some mystery?
