Silverlight or Adobe Flash??

I am confused... For the last 2 days Firefox has asked me do I want to continue blocking Silverlight on Twinspires? I ignored the question and watched the races and wagered with no problem at Twinspires. After doing a google search and from my very limited understanding Adobe Flash and Silverlight may be the same thing or similiar. What's the story with this.

Why would Firefox just start asking me this question?

Looks like the folks at Twinspires don't know or don't care . They haven't responded to my email about this.
