A real fan of the game. A fixture at HOL and SA and DMR.

One by one, the Hollywood celebs that have a connection to horse racing are leaving us.
That's not good. People tend to pay close attention to what celebrities do. If a celeb like to participate in a certain activity in their spare time, fans of that person will follow along.
Plenty of the Hollywood elite from years ago had close ties to the game. These younger ones, not so much.

Such a lovely man. Rarely missed at day at the races. Was a TRUE fan of horse racing. Frequent visitor to the announcers booth. Very sad day. Thanks for everything Mr. Van Patten. RIP

I got in line behind him at the window at HOL twice. He played 60 dollar exacta tickets. Several.

He spoke to everybody.

Sounds just like him.
He visited Tahoe occasionally, and played horses here.
Would always talk racing to anyone and everyone.

RIP DVP

Ran into DVP many times in the 80's at Hollywood Park.
Rest In Peace my fellow horse player.
