As bad as the results have been so far, these picks have been over 80% in the money (see attached). Although hardly the goal of these picks, a place or show bet would actually have each turned a profit. Playing $5 on each to place, would have had a $19 profit and playing $5 to show would have led to a $33 profit; however, the latter primarily due to a $41.50 payoff against a bridgejumper without which the show wagering would have produced an $8.50 loss.

I had been tweaking a QuickHorse "method" for about 3 months starting last year in May. My main goal was to identify "contenders" quickly so that I was not focusing on every horse (obviously you still need to look at the whole race at some point). Then I created several ratings of these selections and ran them against several tracks much of last year and late spring of this year, monitoring and collecting the results. Out of about 12,000 races that were monitored, I have a few hundred "picks" that I found were showing a positive ROI. This positive ROI made me attempt to play them from late April to mid-May of this year before I decided to attempt to post them. Over the past year, I had posted some of these prematurely, often with disastrous results (partly because the sample size was likely too small).

The method takes into account a couple of the QuickHorse standard methods referred to as EP and SP along with a sub-method I refer to as Speed, and another method I refer to as Power (all using the "free" data they provide). In selecting what I have posted here, I have eliminated smaller fields (and some larger fields) and I have eliminated certain types of races. Jockey and Trainer figures are sometimes used to tweak these a bit further.

For what I have been posting here, they are intended to produce is a set of selections that win around 25% of the time but are not just selecting chalk (though they are quite capable of selecting chalk as you can see). I take the results from Quickhorse and analyze them further against other runners in the race to produce the selections posted in this thread. I have a 40 MB spreadsheet that I load these selections into for analysis. If they meet certain criteria, I upload them to XpressBet and have been posting to this thread. I could not find any that meet this criteria for tomorrow and only found one for today.

While I also have spreadsheets which monitor races for current odds (to eliminate playing odds that seem too low or too high) and track conditions (because the selections are made assuming good or better track conditions) throughout the day, for other selections I obtain, the ones I have been posting seem to have a positive ROI despite the odds that may exist and regardless of track conditions. For example, my spreadsheets rarely play these if the odds are less than about 3/2, but these seem to produce a positive ROI regardless.

I really do intend to keep tweaking these methods as I learn more. If I make enough to pay for another year of QuickHorse, I will likely renew (I had a positive run from May to June already). I had signed able to create some level of consistency without knowing enough to use it confidently is convincing me that it may be worth spending time with for up for 2 years initially because I did not think I would determine a way to use their software until after a year of playing with it. As I posted in another thread, there are a few things I wish I could figure out with their product, but the fact that I was another year.

With just 3 more plays for this test of 100, 77% of these have been in the money. I would have liked the Win bets to be profitable, but so far had we placed a $2 Place bet on all of these, we would be $1.80 ahead and a $2 Show bet would be $22.00 ahead ($5.40 if we ignore the $16.60 show payout against a failed bridgejumper).
