9 years old and wouldn't change leads. Still, it was a game effort.

I was lucky enough to have bet against him in a race a number of years ago in a Bridge Jumper's show pool at Charles Town.

My return was something like $350 before my $5 Show Wagers on the balance of 5 horses in the field. My wager was more of a hunch rather than any concrete handicapping.

Still a very nice horse, who is tough to beat when on his game. Hope he goes out while still sound.

Fellow WVa bred gelding Lucy's Bob Boy has won 25 of 40 for just 30k short of a million and is "only" 6...could catch him when all is said and done. He ran last in the open 100k stake last night after a terrible break. Pretty sure LBB leads the head to head but it is close either way. They've raced against each other at least 10 times, probably more.

The sport needs more horses like that.
Working horses that run over many years, not months.

I'd always rather go and watch an old favourite (claimer or otherwise) that I've followed for years, rather then head to the track to watch a horse win it's 4th stakes race and soon retire.

There's not very many of those ones around anymore.

Everyone talks about a horse shortage, but maybe it has more to do with a shortage of "horse starts" more than anything.

a lot of the reason why we don't have real good older horses running is because it cost to much to insure. the only good ones we have running as older horses are for the most part geldings. there are also going to be fewer good geldings than horses. also we no longer allow steroids so that would also cut down the amount of good geldings.

but people do like to follow horses throughout their careers. when you are following a horse like AMERICAN PHAROAH, you will never get the chance to seem him run as a 4 year old. those fans will not be as interested in watching races when he is no longer running.

Hey - I rivalry I actually follow.

They've raced against each other 11 times. Measured by who finished ahead of whom - LBB holds the slighted edge, 6-5.

As to the bridge-jumper on LBB - stick to the WV-bred races. He sometime struggles against the tougher open company.

Thanks, I did not know that. I was there the last 3 years those two Horse are money. Night time stakes racing at the casino is a fun time

Russell Road has retired. He suffered an injury during the WV Derby undercard this past summer. CT had him in the winner's circle prior to the WV Breeder's Cup card at CT this past Saturday night. It was a nice tribute for CT's 2M horse. He led the post parade for the featured $500K race later that night.

Late to the party too.

Russell Road, a real warrior over the years at CT.

Yes, was at Stockton to add them to my track visit collection. Good thing too, as they decided to end racing for good after that meet.

Hope your Pace View efforts are going well NorCalGreg!
