4 year old colt Pennmarydel, the last full brother to Barbaro, is finally set to make his debut on June 6 at Monmouth in a MSW turf route.
Horse has had a lot of average workouts, and his training has been set back more than once by injury.
Hope to see him run well..

15 minutes to post. ML on Pennmarydel is 8/1, currently the favorite at 9/5. Those fans of Barbaro are pounding the windows.. :D

9/2 while they are loading, I have placed a large bet, lets see... (Romantic handicapping?)

Yes indeed a very romantic move.. Never in contention, money thrown in the wind...

Not a bad first time out tho, he was bottled up in the stretch for a bit. Making up ground at the wire, and I don't think he was shown the whip.
A useful debut, I think. :)

Went out to the front today in his sophomore effort, had an easy lead throughout but was unable to hold off a challenge, finished 2nd..

Have any of the Barbaro brothers been tried at longer than 8.5-9f?

Margano ran in the Red Smith and McKnight last year, which are marathons. He finished 3rd in the Red Smith at 1 3/8 miles.

Lentenor, Nicanor, and Margano have all been good turf horses that won some allowance races, and Margano has won a couple minor stakes. Nothing like Barbaro of course, but there's a better chance than not that Pennmarydel will develop into a decent turfer.
