It's possibly the next multi-trillion dollar industry that's coming. Looks like AI might finally be fully wired like the human mind:

Here's another link contained in the article that gives more context:

Visions of Cyberdyne Systems' Skynet dance through my head...then again, I've been re-watching all the Terminator movies this week in preparation for T5 which is coming July 1. ;)

From the article

"The current state of the art has taught computers to understand human language much the way a trained dog understands it when squatting down in response to the command “sit.” The dog doesn’t understand the actual meaning of the words, and has only been conditioned to give a response to a certain stimulus. If you were to ask the dog, “sit is to chair as blank is to bed,” it would have no idea what you’re getting at."
Sort of reminds of some of the posts I see from conservative posters.

I just saw a very good AI inspired British movie, Ex Machina. Dealt with all the issues and whatnot in creating AI.

I find this article to be very high level and somehow dated... He is mentioning NN but not more modern approaches to machine learning and NLP (statistical models, decision trees etc) that dominate the related research today...

Of course, there is no doubt , that AI, machine learning and Big Data Science is the next big thing in the high tech industries but do not expect any time soon, to have a machine thinking like a human...
