View Full Version : Beaver's Yeast, FullCardReports, RacingPicks, and KeyPony

I've read threads about each.

Finding a copy of Beaver's Yeast is tough nowadays. I've read in other threads that both FullCardReports, RacingPicks, and/or KeyPony all use, fully or in part, the ratings from Beaver's Yeast. If any of those sites do base their reports on Beaver's Yeast, it'd be cheaper to use those than to try to find a copy of Beaver's Yeast and buy the BRIS files.

Can anybody clarify whether any/all of these (or other) sites incorporate Beaver's Yeast, along with any other positive/negative things about them? Thanks in advance.

Keypony said they don't use Beaver's program. I never got an answer from the others.

Wow, that's a name from the past. I think that was on the old Prodigy board and that the creator of that program (the Beav himself) passed away something like 15 +/- years ago...

That's because they do.

they sure due.beav's close friend mac from vegas at the time told me he was

selling it to them.I think it was for 250.00.They used it in there

initial output then reversed engineered it and came up with a few

more numbers and changed the headers in the other outputs.take a look at

their outputs Wow that was in 1998 or 9.

Beav sold 1 copy to Linda and her husband who ran racingpicks. Then the two split and husband started fullcardreports. Both the same and base on John's DOS program.

Program is most likely even hard to run on 32bit version of windows or Dosbox.

To give the concept a try, John's program was computerized version of book "Pace makes the race" by Tom Hambleton and Dick Schmidt" and fine tuned for S. California tracks.

John's son was trying to port the program for windows but did not or was not able to finish. (according to John's brother-in-law)

Most computer generated handicapping sheets in the 90's had the same format of simple spreadsheet output. Just have to compare free samples to see if picks are the same.

I was under the impression Fullcardreports.com was out of business although they still have an active web site. I signed up a couple of months back then never got acknowledgment email or access, so lodged a dispute with Paypal and got my money back.

When I go to racingpicks.com the page comes up blank.

If anyone has a different experience please let me know.

I run the Yeast program in DosBox on my Windows 10 64 bit with no problem. With DosBox I use another program called Dosprn 1.79 to print or capture the output from DosBox. The little trick is to uncheck the autoprint box. It then saves the output to a file called prnspl which I open with a text editor. You then can remove scratches before printing. I usually don't print, just read it off the screen.

I use the Yeast program for the workout number which some of the other programs I use doesn't have. I like the workout number mainly for maidens and maiden claimers. I have caught some good longshots when the other horses run below par. Still like to see a good workout number for horses coming off a rest. The Power number is also pretty solid.

If I remember right you need to use the DOSBox MB6 (Megabuild) version to be able to print to dosprn.

This looks like the FCR style data and reports.

How can I get this info?

If anyone can tell me.....

- How to get the data
- What program do I need to run it
- Does it have the TTR for each horse, that was a fantastic piece of data

...that would be MUCH ppreciated.

FCR was without a doubt one of the best products out there.

Thanks for any help.

Beaver's Yeast looks very similar to Keypony reports. Attached is one of 6 reports from Keypony. It is the 1st race at Hawthorne --

Keypony looks to be ery affordable. They say they get 74% wins in top 4. Anyone know what percentage they get in top 3 and whether they get many $20+ winners in top 3. I tried to email them but it goes to Microsoft mail which I'm not setup for.
Anybody know their email address?

fmazur

Actually, the winner is in the top four 77% of the time. The top 3 I have not really thought about that before.
I went back and looked at a couple of hundred races and if I were to guess, it would be 65/68% in the top 3.
Below are two days showing a lot of $20 plus winners in the top 4.

As info, I compared yesterday's free report output to my output using Beav's Yeast, and they are very different. They evidently do not use Beav's program. Full Card Reports and Racing Picks mirrored the output of Beav's Yeast.

Take a look at a yeast and keypony report from the same track on the same date and you will see the points and output are calculated very differently. As I stated earlier, the output from Racingpicks and Full Card reports were definitely based on Beav's Yeast.

Hi Frank,

I have to agree with Jim G. The outputs are different.
I would also state that in my humble opinion and from what I am seeing, that "Key Pony" is no bargain at any price". The top 4 horses mean nothing to me unless you have found a way tp derive" value" from them and /or separate the winner.

The following example from today's Remington Park (Race 10) does just that.
Hopefully, you will see it.

You're right of course. You have to be able to separate the 4 selections.

BTW, I clicked on your pdf and nothing happened. Anyone else have trouble?
