they tell you lots of useful things that you can't pick up on sitting at home like first time front wraps on a horse that is going off at 8/5, how the track played on a particular night. how this particular trainer fired with a horse like the one tonight 3 years ago.
they don't say stupid things like i know he's a live first time starter because of the money on the horse.
if they didn't have this show, i wouldn't play the mountain, its that simple. they actually can give you an edge over the computers and batch players on the other side of your bets.

the last race just finished and Nancy picked the super 4-9-8-6 and it came out 4-9-8-6 for $763 for the $2 you needed to bet the sucker!
not a bad handicapper, to bad i don't play anyone's number's :bang:

Andy Who??
Just kidding, Andy is one of the best that does a lot of work to come up with his selections.

Vic's so edgy lately. Tell us about how riders at Belmont should be riding again. It's like having Ed Wood educate us on how to make a great movie. Okay, bad comparison---you'll always have the earthquake race. Maybe like Rick Dees telling us how to write a great song.

Not edgy. Just liberated. It's clear Andy does his homework and has a great opinion.
IMO he seems to talk down to and a bit over the heads of the average railbird.
A bit elitist for my tastes. Probably not his fault. There's plenty to rub off from his buddy JP.

I didn't say word one about how the riders should ride at NYRA. I commented once about Andy whining about a jock taking a horse back that encountered significant trouble early thereby making a tactical decision impossible.

What a shame. 18 months ago you were calling Grade I races and now you're trolling real industry figures on message boards in the middle of the night.

I literally watch all North American tracks at some point over the course of every week. There is no better simo show than Woodbine's. They cover all the bases - works (including which jocks were aboard), paddock observations, angles and percentages and handicapping basics. The graphics package is second to none and they clearly have the resources to produce a top notch program. I don't think any track has a simo feed on par with Woodbine's on this continent.

I'm not trolling anything. I'm a race tracker just like you. These forums are to share opinions about our sport. I've absorbed my share of shots over the years and bounced back.
Get over yourself.

Woodbine's presentation is a full blown production.

Real industry. That's interesting. The Little Guy and JP the Clown took personal shots at me both publicly and privately at a rate of 100 - 1 over the years.
I rarely responded "because" we were all members of the REAL industry.

And now that you're done in the game, you're going to get even I suppose? Keep fighting the good fight, just be careful not to sully the reputation you so carefully crafted for yourself on the Internet when you were an announcer. Would hate to see your fans let down.

Get even? What are you talking about? I didn't tell anybody to F-Off. Just mixing it up.
Once again. Get over yourself.
Furthermore who says I'm done in the game?
I'm 56 and starting to come out of the haze of Hollywood Park closing.
Don't know when or where but I'll be back calling races at some point. Fire is re-stoking.
I'll make sure to clear it with you though since you seem very interested in commenting on all aspects of my behavior and decision making.

That duo is just plain tough on the ears. I listened to them once as I was in the last race and we were 3-5 all they kept saying was that horse doesn't look like a 3-5 shot well what should a 3-5 shot look like? We won by 7.....

I couldn't agree more. I watch the Mountain a fair bit they are one of the few tracks I watch on my computer and keep the volume up. They seem relaxing to me and just have real conversations on the horses that I enjoy and offer good insight on the races. All thumbs up from here.
As far as the back and forth going on in this thread, Vic, I have always been a big fan of yours and I would say stay above it and hope you are doing well.

Totally agree with a big thumbs up to Mountaineer and Nancy and Mark. In fact, they are perhaps the largest reason I 'cap, wager and watch Mountaineer when ever I can. Love the dry wit and humor from them and don't be fooled, both are sharp as a tack.
To be sure, there are slicker webcast productions and better horses elsewhere but for genuine entertainment I don't think any track's hosts can top these two.
Job well done

Exceptional selections and analysis today by tlg at Bel.
4th Race winner on top: $19.20
3rd Race winner $20.80 picked second.
But the exceptional part, was his analysis of the second race. tlg had the rail on 5/3 as very strong. Cloths Fall Off (#2) rode the rail that day (worse than looked) but was heavy second choice today. Momameamaria (#5) was wide chasing (fast pace) on 5/3 against the same horses she faced today. But she (#5) figured to be forwardly placed today with a strong possibility of getting the lead and opening up. Predicate (#6) figured to close today.
multi race sequence wagers 2nd, 3rd and 4th races all within realm of possibility (I didn't play the multi races). He also had the 5th race as open picking the #6 third, extending the multi race possibility.
Only the 4th race winner will show up in the box score.

Ahh. When I see those "come get ya some comments" I think to myself "do not engage"...
Now worth the time Vic....
Pissing contests are pointless. Nobody wins.

I'm late to the thread - as a bettor I am not a big fan of Mountaineer's racing product, but I have learned a lot about handicapping this level of track from Mark and Nancy's show . They know their track, racing stock and horse racing inside-out and don't exude smugness. I'll take that every time.
