He doesn't look any worse for wear. Maybe this year is the year.

American Pharoah... WOW!!

Hard to find any better description for AMERICAN PHAROAH's performance this morning. Breezing five furlongs with Martin Garcia up, his final Belmont work couldn't have been any more perfect, five furlongs in 1:00.08 as easy as he pleased with a tremendous gallop out, six furlongs in 1:12.82, seven eighths in 1:25.94, up a mile in n 1:39.59, AP seemingly getting stronger the further he went while giving the appearance that he was just galloping the entire way. All he seems to need now in New York is a clean trip to complete his Triple Crown sweep in the Belmont.

Can anybody recall from the past triple crown failures any time where the horse going for the TC didn't look good, train well, eat well, etc., etc.?

You make a valid point.
Everything appears well on the outside.
It's when the horse is asked the question during the race that matters.

I seem to remember in one of BB quotes that he would van AP to the Belmont from Churchill.

I just did a cursory distance check and it's almost 800 miles and at least 12 hours by van.

Why in the world wouldn't you fly him instead? I mean it's probably only a difference of 10 hours or so travel time and it's not as if they can not afford it.

Anybody?

Longer but safer.

You must not do a lot of freeway driving.

He's flying in.

You know for sure?
What are your sources?

Maybe he misspoke, but I definitely remember BB saying, "...after his final work... then we'll VAN him up."

Or, he's being vanned up to Louisville airport.

Or the van is going to be flown in a cargo plane.

Will the flies also be vanned?

Will the flies also be vanned?

Only if they are in the van when they fly.

I would have hoped to see him be stalled, and work out at Belmont, for the last couple of weeks. Just seems to make more sense.

I HOPE HE WINS! :) :jump:
