If he started paying off the debt and then stopped, and that is what I read from it, then he has admitted that he owes the money. The only thing to decide is how much is owed. That' s the way I see it.

I dont think not paying debts is too funny. How would you feel if you went to the track, won and they didn't pay you? Isn't the first time he has been involved in something like this either.

Did you read the article? The sportsbook isn't suing him, an individual is. Sounds like the individual was on the hook to the book as the middleman.

The lawsuit was filed over a year ago. I think a lot of people believe this guy is just in for a quick score. Reality is he filed this along time ago, it's just that the media never cared until now.

Any race track in this country gotta pay you, he took a shot with a offshore book, any book that gets burnt I find amusing I'm sorry to say

Ok, so different rules apply then? Absurd and not funny at all IMO

I'd find the bettor who gets screwed by an offshore book to be equally amusing.

didn't NYRA stiff someone for $3 million?
wasn't there a NH? dog track that closed up owing a quarter million in unpaid tickets?

No doubt. Lou Wolfson was involved in a ton of shady financial activities.

This is THE racetrack episode that makes me go hmmmmm ...

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/06/28/sports/mark-gerard-76-veterinarian-at-center-of-a-horse-race-fraud.html?_r=0

Can't help but wonder about whether it was an abrupt, one-time turn for the worse, or a manifestation about something else. Honestly dunno, and will never know.

In the end although Affirmed defended his title , Alydar was more
successful I the shed .

The Wolfsons come out on top to me anyway , Don't have much love for
the former Calumet folk . In the end it's all about the horse though .

Newsday just published an article today regarding the last Triple Crown.
They mentioned the owners too .
All is not perfect and never was when it comes to big money . So let's just
enjoy America Pharoah !

yes only $1.6 million to North Dakota hub, and nearly 2 dozen other racetracks or hubs from $114 at Philadelphia up to more than $128,000 at Finger Lakes. It is hard to tell exact number but probably just shy of $2 million - still a big chunk of change.

i don't know about the NYRA story, but Hinsdale stiffed their customer's. and not only that they planned it way ahead of time.

the owner of the place called me to deposit money at his track and promised me a 10% rebate on New York racing for win bets. i knew that was to good to be true because at the time i was only getting 4% somewhere else. sure enough, the guy took down some unhappy people and got away with it.
