Various tests have been conducted around the world to eliminate cash transactions.

How will this affect wagering? For some, perhaps most, this is no big deal since they already fund their online wagering accounts electronically. But what about being on track and going to the windows? Just another machine replacing people?

What will happen at the poker rooms?

Big government hates cash. It is hard to track, hard to document, and hard to tax. I was shocked recently to learn that state law in Louisiana prohibits cash transactions for used goods, even at garage sales. I was more shocked to learn that Bobby Jindal signed the bill. Sponsors of the bill claimed it was designed to prevent traffic in stolen goods.

Like anyone buying stolen goods cares about the law.

There's why there's power in the printed ticket. If at the track or a simulcast location one goes to the teller, tells them what they want, pays cash for it & gets a ticket in return. And when you cash out unless it's a situation where it's a signer or taxes are taken out, no one knows who you are.
