Since our old friend trainer David Jacobson has been an interesting topic in a couple of threads today, here are a couple of great reads{from yesteryear} about his dad.
If you read them both closely, you will notice that David J. and his bottom line way of handling horseflesh is a learned behavior from his old man.
The articles are a bit long, but well worth the read.

I remember reading a lot about Bud and the murder years back .

There's no crime though being the son of a dysfunctional murderer .
That's followed David forever , along with a bad deed that had him
once banned . I believe the NY Vets have him under the microscope .
He can't mess up here . Out of state , we don't know .

As for Be Bullish , expecting a claim and a retirement party , 2-1 after
the race .

If you are interested in this story and New York racing in general, I would recommend a very good book My Buddy, King of the Hill. It was written by Frank Pagano, a former trainer. A lot of good stories and an interesting perspective on Jacobson and the murder. It is available on Amazon.

I remember the guy. He was a leading trainer for many years back then. Always getting into trouble. Bad temper. He made a lot of money in real estate. Lost his head and killed a guy named Tupper. Escaped from prison, caught a few weeks later, put in a state max around 1984. Died of cancer a few years later.
