I remember this horse fondly from my early years as a handicapper...he was a turf champion and a helluva good looking horse.

Sky Classic, a four-time champion in the United States and Canada, died peacefully April 30 in his paddock at Josephine Abercrombie's Pin Oak Stud, according to farm manager Clifford Barry.

The 28-year-old stallion had stood at the farm since his retirement from racing in 1992 and had been pensioned from stud duty in January of this year.

Big turf breeding influence there descending from Northern Dancer,
via my favorite horse of all time, Nijinsky.

He and Fraise (who died in 2005) had some dandy battles.
