Other win bets: $30 left of my $100 budget will be looking at Dutching for around $150 with horses like Mubtaahij, international star, Danzig Moon. Mubtaahij would play stronger if he really was around 20-1 but that's not happening.

If I run into some money on the undercard I will probably throw a little more on the race. Also, I might add Dortmund or AP to my Sandwich Super by subtracting from my Show or Hedge bets.

Some of the odds and ends will be game time decisions but the gist of my derby plays are above.

I just don't understand the reasoning for the different minimums on the exotic wagers. Why not just make them all the same???

Hope the whole world follows his advice. After all his Beyer figures are not available for races overseas so in effect, his dissing is nothing more than a self service to his rating system. I would bet anything that he, MR BEYER himself has not used the run up in any of this formulas to create his figures (though he sold the rights to DRF). Still, self serving leads me to be betting more.

Betamerica.com has a special from 5 to 6 pm today. Bet up to $25 to win (straight bet) and if American Pharoah or Dortmund win the race, ALL losing bets will be refunded up to the limit of 25 bucks.

On twitter I asked why so low as I feel you have a lock. They told me that they would raised it to $50 if I wanted them to, I replied. See attachment

This has been my best Derby to handicap. I must have seen all but 4 horses crossing the finish line first at one time or another. Every time I think I'm set, I read something from on one of the posts that make me rethink.... Anyway, this has been great. Wouldn't you love to see an Affirmed/Alydar stretch drive...

There may be 4 or 5 horses this year who could win this race, I think the field is very deep. I've settled on a key horse that will offer value, Mubtaahij.
I happen to like his breeding, the way he has been trained, his stride and running style. So, I'll be playing him across the board and boxing him in exactas and small tri's with the 8, 10, 15 and 18.....probably some saver bets with others in the field too. Going to try and keep my total bets below 150.00

I will take :3: Materiality on top. I rarely bet the Derby as many times the best horse gets beat by a bad trip. I won't bet this one either as Materiality earned my top pace figure at Gulfstream which I never trusted for accuracy of pace figures that I make. There are too many horses with high pace figures in here so it could be a pace that cooks anyone within a half dozen lengths of it.
On the other hand a fear of a hot pace could allow someone to steal it.

I will just watch and enjoy and then load up on the Preakness, which where I know I have a high lifetime ROI on, I know I am in the red betting the Derby and I can't remember the last time I picked a Belmont winner.

Dang! My top 2 got 2nd and 3rd, my top 4 got 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, and my top 5 got all 4 finishing positions. Good, but not good enough.

Dortmund ran low on fuel after setting average fractions for 1 1/4m of 23+, 47+, 1:11+. Firing Line and AP got good stalking positions and had more left. American Pharoah was everything everybody, except me, thought he was. Great trip, ride, and performance!!

I'm glad for the Zayats, finally broke through and won The Roses!!

Could this be the year? If AP can get the win in the Preakness I think he has an excellent chance to also win the Belmont as he appears to be able to run forever. The Preakness, at only 1 3/16m, IMO, will be his toughest test of the remaining 2 TC races. Early speed will be very important at the shorter Preakness distance, but he stalked beautifully today so maybe he'll be able to do the same in the Preakness.

Was rooting for FL as well. I had him keyed on top of the Tri. Had AP on top as well which ended up evening out the majority of my bets, ending slightly down. When AP made his run it looked like FL for a second was going to fight back and even stuck his nose out in front before AP was able to put him away.

It was a chalkfest but still a great race to watch. Thought FL was in it til the end and Dortmund fought back in previous races so until the final furlong I thought he could have rerallied as AP and FL started to overtake him.

On another replay watch, didn't change leads until at the wire when he bumped AP, then on the gallop out it looks like he went past him when finally on the right lead.

Dead last, had a 4 horse tri box including the top 3 finishers so not a complete disaster.
