multiple horses are going to get fkd

post 1 is an autotoss and post 20 is close behind 1 for different reasons

post 16>19 is cause for great concern as well..moreso if you havanospeed..dunno about post 2 but i don;t think i would want to be there as well

I eliminate posts 1 - 4 for the Win position. Unless you are some freaky mad super-closer. I would rather have my prime pick in any post of the auxiliary gate than inside on post 1.

Anyone hearing that El Kabeir may be scratched?

Rumor. But he only had one workout when he arrived at the track and never went back. Hmmmmm....

Love the spot for Firing Line at 10 next to Stanford.

1 2 and 3 are still available and no Dortmund, AP, or CD yet!

Baffert has to be sweating right now.

10 drawn - neither of his - and 1-3 are still open, plus two outside holes.

Good draw for Dortmund, not so for AP.

However, Baffert has to be happier than Pletcher with the draw.

If the horse is best on the day, and can avoid a bad trip,
a bad draw can be overcome.

Commercial

Did not know but itsaknockout is locally owned and I guess last locally owned winner was old rosebud in like 1914, piece of trivia.

I'm fairly certain Mr Z will make it difficult for American Pharoah to get good position early, and keep the 17 hole winless.

By the way, ever wondered which posts fare best? A breakdown of winning percentages since Churchill began using a starting gate in 1930: No. 1 (9.4%), No. 2 (8.2%), No. 3 (5.9%), No. 4 (5.9%), No. 5 (10.6%), No. 6 (2.4%), No. 7 (7.1%), No. 8 (9.5%), No. 9 (4.9%), No. 10 (11.5%), No. 11 (2.7%), No. 12 (4.3%), No. 13 (5.9%), No. 14 (3.3%), No. 15 (7.5%), No. 16 (9.3%), No. 17 (0%), No. 18 (3.6%), No. 19 (4.2%) and No. 20 (7.1%).

I wouldn't think that wise. Our last TC winner came from the 2 hole and if you add in the 3 & 4 you're talking about most of racing's royalty.

I wouldn't throw out any Derby horse based solely on PP.

Ouch, 2 for Carpe Diem

There's nothing wrong with the 2 post. A pair of seconds and four thirds in the past 25 runnings. Only the 1 post has perhaps been a problem in the age of huge Derby fields (no appearances in the tri since 1988) and even that could be a matter of limited sample size.

Candy Boy was my pick last year for a decent price horse coming out of the :18: . I remember the air coming out of my lungs when he got checked hard before the first turn

Last horse to come out of the :18: and win, was Gato Del Sol back in 1982.

I guess you could put it that way. They aren't going to go out of their way to give AP a bad trip.
