The Dream Thread is the reason for this poll.

I don't have any opinion on dream premonitions but I do believe in "Hunches"
;)
Don't try to force them but don't let the real ones slip through your fingers.

I've cashed a few in my time and witnessed newbies come to the track for the first time and go wild cashing winners.

Groucho Marx made a bundle backing a newbie at the craps table...

Ray, I voted No...

I have played and won on hunches...But, I have lost quite a bit as well.....

And, for the "dream doctor", I believe he is just a tout....How did I come to this conclusion?... His modus operandi is exactly how touts operate...If he wins he is a genius dream catcher, if he loses he will counter with, hey it's just for fun...

Baloney...

That's fine Johnny,

I'm just curious if Horse-Players (Risk takers, Gamblers, etc) have an above average belief in paranormal events.

This small poll won't show much, but it might be fun to see if how they vote. :)

Best of Luck with your play....

I just posted about dreams and luck when cashing on another thread. Strange that it just came up on this thread.

Hunches look to me to be of value to cappers at both ends of the spectrum, new to capping or have mastered their system. To the beginner the bounty is in intuition not quite mastered in their numbers. To the veteran the bounty comes from understanding the exceptions to the rule or their system or the game in general.

The horses play a substantial role in my life, so I see horseracing-related dreams quite regularly. Alas...they never seem to mean what I think they mean.

I saw a promising dream about a year ago...the type of dream you see right before awakening, which you don't soon forget. I had supposedly bet on a 7-horse, and my horse was opening up a substantial lead as the horses were nearing the wire. But another horse came flying on the outside...and nipped my horse on the shadow of the wire. And then the numbers went up on the board, clear as day: 9-7-5 .

The next day was Monday, an idle day for me...but the dream was so intriguing that I couldn't resist. I decided to go to the OTB, and wager a $10 straight trifecta on the 9-7-5 combination in every race where at least 9 horses were present. Five hours later, and $240 poorer, I was driving back home...thankful that Monday featured so many short fields. And then, as I got close to my house...a message comes up on my dashboard telling me that my car is overheating. I rush the car to the shop the next day...where I am told that the water pump needs replacing. Total repair costs: $975 .

I have learn that going against a hunch or a dream in any form is a mistake. I do not understand why I get hunches or dreams, but am I sure somebody can explain how the unconscious mind effects them and how it process information the conscious mind can't. I suppose whether or not you bet hunches or dreams is how well your unconscious works.

It is not how well your unconscious works. It is how well you are able to understand the work your unconscious does.

And that's why I said it works best at both ends of the handicapping spectrum. The newbie doesn't know his numbers well, but can get a feel for them. The veteran knows his numbers well and can read into them the exceptions to the rules.

Gallup poll

With the small numbers so far, I guess horse players are "Above Normal" in ESP belief. :)
