Another fine card from steamy Sha Tin. QEII Cup later on the card.

Not sure how long I'll play tonight, as I'm on a road trip in FLA, and it's a 1:00 AM start, but we'll see how it goes.

Race 1: Class 5, 2000 meters (1 1/4 miles) on the turf

Tough start with unknown track bias. Track does some to be playing very fair so far this season.

Small longshot double-key in the omni - :3::10:with :3::8::10::11:

Small each way play on the :3: dog. The :8: looks great in the paddock, but is no bargain at the price.

Good luck tonight!

Race 1 results: :11::13::10::14:

:3: tracked with a great trip, had nothing at the top of the lane. :11: wins for fun at 3-1, in amazing race for class 5 horse to stay in form - two seconds inside standard. :8: went wide at the top of the lane and lacked punch in stretch to finish mid-pack. :10: hangs on for a desperate photo for third to cash the 8.8 to 1 QP.

Race 2: Class 4, 1400 meters (7 furlongs) on the turf

Taking the :6:, hoping he behaves better this time at the gate. Saver Qs and QPs with :3::7::9:.

After two weekends away, Moreira back to suppress the odds on his rides. Hugh Bowman and Craig Williams in town from Down Under for the feature and some other rides.

Kudos to the simulcasting engineers tonight - the audio started off with the mix of Chinese and English audio, but was promptly fixed.....:ThmbUp:

Race 2 results: :7::5::1::9:

Blanket finish with slow early pace. :6: had no excuses, as he behaved and broke alertly, and stalked in 3rd, but could not close on the rail when the serious running started, finishing a close up sixth.

Race 3: Class 4, 1600 meters, (1 mile) on the turf

Taking :3: with small win bet, larger place bet - though one of the analysts said he's acting up now on the way to the gate. didn't mean to slight Tommy Berry, who's also in town from Down Under, and takes over for Zach Purton who is off his mounts today. Tote says tilt.

Delay in Race 3 - the favorite :8: Motif reared in the gate, and is now a late scratch. When he being vetted, the horse was looking down and didn't appear to be well. Nice to see the track downing what's best for the horses. The :11:, Born to Win is also now a late scratch....

Race 3 results: :13::2::5::1:

Ugh. I don't know if the :3: just didn't fire, or if the rail is not the place to be in the stretch, but he came up quite empty in the lane - after his odds drifted late. Winner saved a bit of ground, then came out for the stretch drive.

Race 4, Class 4, 1200 meters (6 furlongs)

Taking a shot here with the :4:, as Berry rode him his first out. If he can actually get a decent start, maybe he'll do something. Saver QPs with the :2::3::11:

Race 4 results: :10::7::2::8:

Bombs came in underneath, as the chalk wins, second was 99-1, and dead heat for third with 13-1 and 51-1. :4: broke okay, stayed on the rail (ugh), and then seemed to be eased a bit late, but was never in contention.

Race 5: 1800 meters (1 1/8 miles) on the turf

Tough night so far, but not backing off the value plays now. Taking the :6: Autumn Gold at 16-1, with saver QPs with the :8::9::13:

Race 5 results: :9::2::7::11:

Bombs coming in second and third, late money on the :11: who tried to steal it on the front end.:6: stalked with a decent trip, faded badly and finished last.....:(

Half the card in the books, and only a small QP cashed. Time to turn it around.

Race 6: Class 3, 1400 meters (7 furlongs) on the turf

Like the :10: Lansbury here quite a bit, but the horses I love tend not to run as well. Saver QPs with the :4::7:, saver Q with the :3:.

Race 6 results: :3::14::1::7:

Chalk broke slow along with the :10:, but took the inside path and wore them down. The :10: came wide, couldn't make up enough ground. Speed doing okay for the most part tonight.

Race 7: Group 2, 1200 meters (6 furlongs) on the turf, HK Sprint Cup

Taking the :3:Peniaphobia, who I think is a bit better at the distance than the :1:. Small double with :6: Helene Super Star in the next race, the QE II at 2000 meters. Formerly known as "Lines of Battle", this horse finished 7th in the Kentucky Derby two years ago, and seems to be better at 2000 meters. Should be nearer the front with and hoping he can stay.

Jet lag kicking in - time to hit the rack.

Good luck!

Below is a link to the betting pools for race 10, in Hong Kong dollars. (tried to post a screen shot, but it didn't work) A $HK is worth $0.13 or so. The $59M HK in the Q pool equates to $7,775,720 in U.S. dollars. Total handle of the night was just under $175M U.S. Now that's some gambling!

Thanks lamboguy, I'm used to these things happening. The way my poker games are going lately I am almost starting to expect the worst. :)
