Horse with 99% of the place pool finishes last.

There was a dead heat for second, so there are 3 place payoffs.

Did you catch some of the money?

By the pool totals, looks to me that the bet showed up really late and nobody played against.

Crazy that the guy who bet 25k didn't himself bet the others.

I didn't have the video on Plainridge at that time, but I was watching its pools on SuperTote. When I saw that huge bet go into the place pool I attempted to bet the other horses to place, but it was too late - I got the "Race Is Closed" message on Wager Pad.

I switched the video to Plainridge and they were about 1/8 of a mile into the race. I watched the favorite get parked from the start, vainly attempt to make the front while 1st over, then gradually weaken from the 3/4-home, finishing a well-beaten 4th (not last as I said in the OP).

What could have been my biggest score ever betting place/show turned out to be my biggest near miss.

You gotta watch for those. $5 show (or place in this case) on everyone else against the bridgejumper won't break the bank.
