What is your favorite baseball movie? I tend to like the old ones in black and white, Pride of the Yankees, The Stratton Story, Rhubarb, etc. But my favorite is The Sandlot.

While Moneyball was my favourite movie of 2011, this decision comes down to Bull Durham or Field of Dreams.

Do I go with "You lollygag the ball around the infield" or Costner's choked up "Do you wanna have a catch?"

In the end, I choose FoD because its themes of family, chasing dreams, and redemption play out in such powerful ways; this movie never fails to reduce me to tears.

Doesn't hurt that I stumbled upon the field itself in Dyersville, Iowa while driving cross country. Sounds hokey but the diamond does feel magical.

As far as the older black and white movies go, a favorite of mine is "Big Leaguer". Edward G Robinson runs a training tryout camp for the NY Giants and in the cast are some major leaguers of the day. Worth watching if you can catch it.

Bull Durham was probably the most authentic. But the three I enjoyed most were Pride of the Yankees, The Natural and 61*.

we've talked about this classic on here before and i contend that a major flaw in the movie was that buttermaker never called kelly to the mound to shut down the hated yankees once and for all!!

bnb is still my favorite baseball movie though and honorable mention to major league, both films featuring a diverse group of underdogs that gel over time and start to find the groove!!

The only movie on that Top 20 list, that I haven't seen, is 61. That being said, I really enjoyed them all. My top 3 would be, 42, Eight Men Out, and one that's not on the list, Trouble With The Curve.

Juuuust a bit outside..

The little high, I believe was "Too high" referring to the ball being to high to clear center field. "Whattya mean too high?"
