Does anybody have the info on whether the top 20 horses would be any different if they were still using the earnings instead of the points?

No stats, but the Swale, Champagne, and Spinaway winners were almost a guarantee to be in. That would be Daredevil, Ready for Rye, and Condo Commando that would be lining up in the gate this year (if healthy).

Also, Mine That Bird wouldn't have been able to run simply due to his win in the Woodbine Grey Stakes. MTB ran twice as a 3 year old before the Derby. Both times at Sunland Park, and he finished 4th in the Sunland Derby. Tiznow RJ finished 4th this year if that helps to make a comparison.

The change in points vs grades stakes earnings has completely changed the horse that enters the gate in the Kentucky Derby. At least half the field would be different.

By the way, Mine That Bird got in due to his win in the Grey Stakes, there were also other guaranteed entries with wins in certain races along with the old graded stakes earning method, do you know or recall what those were?
