Special "late Easter" daytime card at Sha Tin. Tonight is a school night, so I can't stay up for all of them, but we'll play a few.

Race 1: Class 5, 7 furlongs on the turf. Wide open, as the Class 5 races tend to be, but longer shots tend to get there.

Taking :8: On The Way, with an each way bet. Should be charging late, but so will some others. Saver QPs :8: with :2: :11:

Race 1 results: :8: :2: :1: :11:

It's all about the trip. :8: gets a dream trip, and an opening to dart through late after saving ground with cover most of the way. 9-1, and for a few strides I thought I was going to cash both my QP savers. Nice start to the card.

Race 2: Class 4, 10 furlongs on the turf. Very tough, expect the :12: to set the pace and fade, with logical contenders :5: and :13: underlays.

Gonna play the :2: Ocean Power, very small each way, with saver QPs :2: with :5: :11: :13:

Four horses got late action in the first, including the winner. We'll see if the tote tilts on any of these.

Race 2 results: :14: :5: :13: :12:

Liked some of the back speed figures of the winner at 14-1, but you don't see Moreira get off the winner to ride a different horse. Blanket finish for top 3. :10: surprised a bit pushing to the top around the first turn, and my :2: dog got a bit shuffled and lost interest.

Race 3: Class 4, 7 furlongs on the turf

Another toughie, leaning towards the :14: as a couple of the analysts are bailing on him - saver Qs with :2: :4: :10:

Race 3 results: :5: :10: :14: :2:

Winner gets a nice inside trip, and room late to come through at 11-1. That's two races in a row now where the horse that "hates to win", jumps up and wins. The :5: was zero for 22 with two seconds and two thirds coming into the race, and in the second the :14: was zero for 27 with one second and two thirds.

A big hat tip to anyone cashing win tickets on those horses.

Race 4: Class 4, six furlongs on the turf - like the :5: horse to be flying late, so small win bet and medium place wager. Saver Qs with the :6: :12: .

Race 4 results: :6: :12: :4: :9:

Very chalky. :6: wins easy at 6/5. Nobody closed from too far back, so the track looks like it's slightly speed favoring. :5: dog went to the back and appeared to be very rough-gaited. Did not get my money's worth on that run. :(

Race 5: Class 3, seven furlongs turf

Taking a small wager on :14: each way. Tote board tilting on the :10: horse, and he'll probably be a part, but I'm hoping the inside draw helps Superoi get home on top.

Yeah, my first race profits are being cut into.

It's a pretty tough circuit, and with 12-14 horses in each race, it's not easy to cash a tri. I very rarely play those, and have no real complaints that I can't play the quartet or first four or some of the other multi race/multi horse wagers - with Twinspires, Xpressbet or TVG.

The omnis/QPs offer some value, unlike the same pools when offered in North America.

What I like about the races is that every now and then that 8-1 to 15-1 shot looks like an easy pick and gets there, and keeps you in the black for most of the card....

Couldn't get to the chalk. Made a couple of dollars with saver QP making up for money lost on the W/P wager.

One more race and then nighty night.

Race 6: Class 4, one mile, turf

Taking :5: Mac Row with saver Q with the :7: . The :5: has an outside post, but appears to be moving the right direction, and should be around at the end if he can get some cover and stay a touch closer to the front.

Rest of card - not much value.

Race 7 - :1: Able Friend a monster - one of the top milers in the world.

Race 9 - :12: Rad - outside post on the straight is a help, should be tough.

More chalk. Interesting wagering in this race, with the :2: :4: :6: :12: :13: all taking late action, including the "brown lamp" horse :6: Penny Lane who went to the top and backed up and finished 5th. My selection :5: went to the back, and couldn't close inside.

Nice pick with the "value" horse the :11: in race 5. Maybe you'll get another winner or two to have a winning night. I'm taking my $60 profit through six races and hitting the door on the run.... :)
