Point taken. But considering the winter on the east coast, it may be low?

It's going to be an interesting number to follow

The leftist governor, Andy Boy Cuomo, stopped fracking and made a fool of himself in the Indiana bill. He hates jobs and blue collar workers. He wants the USA to be dependent on foreign and Arab oil. He's a loser and a crook, but that's for another time.

The socialist NYC mayor, Billy Boy DiBlasio, is a bigger joke that has sided with cop killers and assorted murderers in his brief time as mayor. Anyone who'd rather hang out with Sandinistas or vacation in Cuba isn't fit to be mayor of my NYC, the once greatest city in the world.

Sure $2 million plus condos in dumpy Brooklyn and the shit hole called The Bronx are the talk of the financial press but long-time residents are indeed leaving New York by the droves.

When their government steals their income, fails to protect them, sides with race hustlers and organizations that are out of the main stream and then tries to bully them when they balk, eventually they vote with their feet and leave.

The murder numbers cited above are too small a sample, yes, but the great NYC miracle started by and thanks to mayors Guiliani and Bloomberg are gone, quickly fading into a distant memory.

I have decided that since New York and their elected officials promote discrimination and hates religious freedom, I will boycott Saratoga, Yankee Stadium, Arthur Avenue and the Feast of San Gennaro.

when they are reporting the numbers provided by the NYPD ? How do you go after the source? Oh, yeah. I forgot. It doesn't matter if they don't fit your agenda.

The motto of Front Page Rag is "Inside Every Liberal Is a Totalitarian Screaming To Get Out"

Here is the first paragraph of the story.

Kill Stop and Frisk, attack police for doing their jobs and promote the grievances of criminals… and strangely enough more shootings happen.
Point by point; randomly stopping citizens and frisking them is something that is done in totalitarian countries. Not being allowed to criticize the police is something that happens in totalitarian countries. Abridging the rights of the accused-innocent or guilty-is something that happens in totalitarian countries. Yet the author is obviously in favor of all these things. So who are the totalitarians?

randomly stopping citizens and frisking them is something that is done in totalitarian countries.

The NYPD stop and frisk program did not allow random stops, was legal under NY State law, and was designed to comply with decisions of the US Supreme Court on the issue.

From Wiki:
The Stop-question-and-frisk program, or stop-and-frisk, in New York City, is a practice of the New York City Police Department in which police officers stop and question a pedestrian, then frisk them for weapons and other contraband; this is what is known in other places as the Terry stop. The rules for stop, question and frisk are found in the state's Criminal Procedure Law (the criminal procedure law) section 140.50, and are based on the decision of the United States Supreme Court in the case of Terry v. Ohio.

You yearn for the days of David Dinkins? You want the NYC murder count back north of 2,000, the vast majority of whom were minorities?

The thing about you is you're very genuine in your beliefs. You just never, ever foresee the consequences of the policy actions you advocate. It's quite amazing. Again, I know you mean well.

Exactly right. He means well......... but is so far from reality..........he does actual injury to the parties he proclaims to care about.

I've heard it called lots of things. Including unintentional racism

I read the article Dan. I didn't learn anything. I'm not sure where you are from, but I'm very aware of Mayor Dinkins' disgraceful record. And you really considered that a robust defense of Dinkins?

Yup, just like Dem opposition to school vouchers - de facto racism.

About 2/3s of the shortfall was leisure/hospitality and the balance construction. On the former, I don't believe the number. On the latter, the weather didn't help. Trend remains 200k to 250k/month, imo. The 4-week MVA for unemployment claims hit an all-time low (adjusted for population) on Thursday. Wal-Mart, McDonald's et al aren't raising wages b/c the economy stinks.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Dinkins

Under Dinkins' Safe Streets, Safe Cities program, crime in New York City decreased more dramatically and more rapidly, both in terms of actual numbers and percentage, than at any time in modern New York City history. The rates of most crimes, including all categories of violent crime, made consecutive declines during the last 36 months of his four-year term, ending a 30-year upward spiral and initiating a trend of falling rates that continued beyond his term. Despite the actual abating of crime, Dinkins was hurt by the perception that crime was out of control during his administration.

Let's look at really violent crimes like rape and murder from 1990 to 1993:

"DINKINS' YEARS"
Murder: 2,262 to 1,927 (down, but still unacceptably high)
Rape: 3,126 to 3,225 (that's up)

Dinkins leaves office.

"RUDY'S CRIME STATES AFTER 5 YRS (1998 stats):
Murder: 629
Rape: 2,476

Yeah, Dinkins was great at protecting minorities.

The Dinkins legacy is the trash Rudy swept off the streets. :D
