Does anyone know of any documentaries chronicling the history of horse racing that have ever been done. I don't mean on a single subject like Seabiscuit, but an overview of the sport through the ages.

And do people think there are other great stories out there just like Seabiscuit non-racing or casual fans would enjoy.

I'm convinced Seabiscuit has helped the Triple Crown ratings -- movie's out on DVD now. My feeling is people have not gone to the races more, but are interested in the big events. Much like no one cares about skating and gymnastics until the Olympics.

Andi,

I can't remember specifics but I'm reasonably sure I've seen a racing documentary or two on the history channel. Possibly they would be able to help with your search.

According to Google, 1999 "U.S. Latino Punk History" includes Mexicans in the horseracing industry. Other than that, you have to make one. How about history of horseracing on film and TV? You could include Mr. Ed and Marx Bros.

Andicap!
I think a documentary on the history of horseracing would be very interesting.
There are some great stories out there.
There were some very colorful characters around the turn of the Century........I've often thought about that watching some of Ken Burn's specials on PBS.........
