Happy Tuesday everyone. I believe that Woodbine races Thurs-Sat this week and that their meet will then finish on Monday.

Any word on if the 700k+ jackpot hi-5 has a mandatory payout date? I would guess it is one of these nights.

Am I correct in saying Woodbine closes Monday and Mohawk opens April 9th? Does this mean the carryover is transferred to Mohawk?

Ed,

I think that is for 2014. I have not heard about 2015

Thanks Ed. This is the only time I will ever play this type of bet. There is good value with the mandatory payout. I wonder if this will be a 12 horse field or just 10?

The program is out for Saturday at Woodbine. Race 11 looks tough as it should be. I would love some thoughts on the race as I do not play much Woodbine but have to dive into this carryover. This is my ticket as of now:

2-4
2-4
5-6-7-8-9-12
5-6-7-8-9-12
5-6-7-8-9-12

$48 ticket ($0.20 base). I have eliminated 4 horses but you can make a case for many here.

#1 Won last by 5 at 10/1 on the small oval of Flammy. Draws well and gets Filion but class will be tested.
#3 Seems to have lost his form over the last pair of races and also testing class.
#10 Draws the widest and with two trailors, this is a VERY difficult spot. James Macdonald chooses over the 1 & 11, but the post and big jump in class might do him in.
#11 Meadowlands shipper shows back to back place efforts and in the top 5 in 5 of 6, but starts from a trailing position and will not be able to blast off the wings.

Does anyone have strong cases for these horses? Again, I do not play much Woodbine so I appreciate any and all advice.

#2 looks like a great spot play and #4 is the classiest of the bunch despite being a beaten favorite in this class last week. I will box these two up in the exacta and use the rest underneath. I cannot form a strong opinion for anyone besides these two horse.

This is a great betting opportunity. Payout should be more than fair.

24/245/24517/245178/2451786=$21.60

#9 World Away never come close only win when he drop class and now go up again. I skip.

#12 Regol Son didn't race since Jan 17. Althought he have 2 good qualifer. usually he need at least 1 or 2 start to be ready. I'll skip.

I have spent some more time looking at this puzzle. Here is where I am at now:

4
2
5-6-7-8-9-11-12
5-6-7-8-9-11-12
5-6-7-8-9-11-12

4
5-6-7-8-9-11-12
2
5-6-7-8-9-11-12
5-6-7-8-9-11-12

4
5-6-7-8-9-11-12
5-6-7-8-9-11-12
2
5-6-7-8-9-11-12

Each costs $42 for a total of $126. This play is built around #4 Camaes Fellow winning, #2 Bilbo Hanover placing 2nd, 3rd, or 4th, and #1,3,10 out of the number. Camaes Fellow should be the favorite and Bilbo Hanover hitting the ticket will not be a shocker to anybody, but this bet is about hitting a winning combination without blowing your wallet. I am excited to see what others come up with.

It's a good puzzle for sure

#2 BILBO HANOVER in last...tenth-to-third with a :26.3 final quarter at 30-1 besting the 4 so I'll go with the crowd with this construction:

$0.20 Jackpot Hi-5: 2,4 / 2,4 / 8,6,7 / 8,6,7 / All
Bets: 96 Total: $19.20

And then throw in some crazy cheap shots using the 1 and 6 in top 2 positions.
#1 with the driver change and #6 with the Golden Post and I always like Mcnair

Good Luck Everyone

I feel that the #1 will be in the ticket.
He did a great performance in flanny and got plenty left.
At least he's a regular pref horse in flanny.

Ed,

I am torn between including the #1 or #11 in the number. The more I watch replays and look into it, the #1 did have a real nice effort last time. With the good post and Filion, I can see him riding the wood and sneaking into the number. I am considering ditching the #11. He was sharp at the Big M, but he is facing better, gets A Mac, and will have a really difficult time leaving from the second tier. He is just in the money at Woodbine 2/12. #1 is 0/3 in the money at Woodbine, but that last effort looked like great improvement.

After much tinkering and "'cappin", I have come up with my ticket. This is a great test of handicapping and everyone will have to take a few stands when making their ticket. My play consists of three things:

1. :4: Camaes Fello (3-1) must win. Classy horse makes second start off month layoff and second time lasix. Auciello races his horses to "train" them and if this one can build an inch off his last mile, he should win.

2 :6: The Rev (8-1) will actually be my key horse. I am using this horse to get either 3rd, 4th, or 5th. This horse draws well for McNair team. He is almost always picking up a check in this class (except for 10 hole). I do not see him winning, but I will use underneath. He can do it both ways. Might sit 2nd or 3rd or rally 2nd or 3rd over. I think the consistency and versatility make him a good key underneath.

3. :3: Ideal Jet (15-1), :10: Hes A Sensation (12-1), and :11: JM Jet Set (15-1) CANNOT hit the ticket. The hardest to toss is JM Jet Set as he has cut some wicked miles at the Big M. My angles against are the following: 1. I am hoping his last two speed tries took something out of him (121.4 3q last week). 2. I hope the shipping took something out of him. 3. Loses Callahan for AMac. and 4. The second tier for a speed horse. I am not sure how this one gets into the race.

My tickets: $42 each, $126 total

1-2-5-7-8-9-12
6
1-2-5-7-8-9-12

Good luck to all. If you play the ponies for pure enjoyment, this maybe is not the bet for you. If you play considering economics of the gamble, this may be the greatest harness racing betting opportunity of 2015. You cannot be afraid to spend a little as there are almost 100,000 combinations with the 12 horse field. The payout will offer such great value if you can hit though. Do not break the bank, but this is the one time were I would suggest betting more than your normal limit by maybe 2 or 3 times.

Twinspires pool not same as Woodbine pool.

The TwinSpires Players' Pool will go after the mandatory payout (must win) Super Hi 5 on Saturday, April 4, at Woodbine harness. The carryover of more than $800,000 could spark a pool as high as $2-million!
