Group Exacta Test Run

Now that the weather is improving and the colts, fillies and top class horses will soon be starting their campaigns....

Let's see if there's any interest in doing an Exacta run where each day I'll post the Track, Race, a Key Pick and one other "must use horse" and ask Forum members to post their "must use" number (1 or 2 add-ins) for any listed race that peeks their interest. Colts and fillies are fine but the races won't be limited to only the young'ns. There should be a dozen or so races listed for each day.

You don't have to make a post in all races and there's no individual scoring, I'm just interested to see ....
How good are the PACEAD 'cappers as a group in finding the POPPER :) .
The wager will be my 1st pick, top and bottom, with all other 'must use' horses in the Exacta.

I'll keep a daily running score on the Key box Exacta and continue for 500 races or until people get bored.

Great!

I'll use the Canada "B" tracks also and with Hoosier opening a week from tomorrow, it should provide enough of a variety to be interesting. Might as well use some 1/2 milers too.

I'll try to put up non-favorites with a 50+% chance to finish 1st or 2nd and I'll get the "price" horses (what I call, poppers) from you guys...

I decided to go with all tracks except Rosecroft and Northville.
Maybe more cappers will add a Popper if it's their favorite track.

My key pick will be the horse that I give a high chance to finish 1st or 2nd but not the Morning Line choice.
It will often end up the Toteboard favorite.

The key pick will be played in the Key Box Exacta with those from "A Little Help from My Friends" :)
If no suggestions are offered for a race then my 2 horse box will be used.

We'll see how it goes (I'm making this up on the fly),
...might have to use a consensus for must-use poppers if there's too many.

Yep, that's the idea. Started off with 2 Winners, and cheap Exacta, Hope that's a good sign..... :)

That wasn't a regular who made the remark about posting results. I almost came to your defense. It's good when posters put up results.

Computer only came up with 1 race for Northfield today. (Your pick, R8 Victory is Coming, woulda helped yesterday :)).

This little(?) test run is to see how a group of good 'cappers would add in horses to my Exacta Plays on select races where I believe my top pick has a high chance of placing.

I'm looking for the "must-use" horse when the computer misses a logical contender or, more importantly,
the "Price POPPING" horse that's been killing my tickets.

There's no real rules in the thread, just a fun run to see how the consensus performs.
This Forum is heavy on some pretty smart players, would like to see more help... :)

#5 Jude Hall--Needs the lead/pocket. The horse next to him is the key though. If he tries to leave, it is compromise his chances.
#8 Amazon Art--Just added Lasix, was in tight quarters and had to be "checked" a couple times, before at quarter pole. A cleaner trip makes him a player, despite getting P8
#9 Coach Ken--solid closer. P9 will require Miller to likely be 1st up or locked in. The value of the 3 other contenders but least reliable due to the drivers matching unreliable skills.

I'm making a slight change on which races make my playlist for this test run.

I've been using :

1. Key Pick must not be Morning line fave.
2. Computer Fair Odds on Key must be less than 5/2

Thing is that shuts out a lot of 10 horse field races where odds are generally higher than in smaller fields.
So I'm dropping that criteria for BigM, Mohawk and Hoosier.

I also put in my 2nd choice and sometimes a 3rd pick if it's a longshot in the ML

That's how it goes sometimes, here's a couple of longshots I'm considering at Northfield Tonite.

One of them is in the same race you mentioned with Sweetie, who I also like.
The 5yo mare Miss Riley needed that month off after 40 starts last year and has placed in the last 2 starts.

So a good box might be Texas Ridge (probable fave) with Sweetie and Riley...3 horse box 4-2-5 ex & tri


The other is #6 Hammer of Justice (15/1) in race 9
3rd start start back, but needs to stay flat

I've been giving that some thought, perhaps sticking with the larger handle tracks only and switching to horizontal plays like the Doubles, Pic3's and maybe Pic4's.

Scoring wouldn't mean much with such low strike rate wagers (It wasn't that significant in the Exacta run for that matter :)) but it might be interesting to see how Pick(x) bets constructed by the 'gang' would fare. Maybe it would attract more 'cappers.

Pompano 5 is a Pick 4 but doesn't make the list because it also says "leg 5 of Pick 5" and that is a is a NO-NO in the bot's "Mind"
