I know we have quite a few owners on here, I was wondering how an owner like the Ramsey's could possibly support all the horses they must have. The math boggled my mind, considering the first few years he was the only breeder to Kitten's Joy and his 100+ foals, now in his 7th year? What would be the guess as to how many horses they have? 400? 500? 600? Considering they had over 10 million in purses, but the expenses would have to be well beyond that. I'm sure the stud fees help, at 100,000 each, but they still breed a considerable amount of their own mares. Do they sell off, or give away a considerable amount of the retired horses?

I'm in awe of how they seem to have come out of humble beginnings .

It looks like they worked hard and made smart investments leading to
their financial security .
Wiki claims they went into real estate and then cellular investments .
Sold their first cell tower for 39 million . I guess that bought the farm .

Smart business folks and yes that 100,000 stud has to help .

you can figure a minimum of $1000 a month for a horse in any kind of training and 2-300 a month for a horse in the pasture. Before anybody says how much more it cost them, these are bare minimum figures.

Actually the revenue stream started years ago when the Ramsey's won a cellular network lottery in 1992.

The $ they get from Kittens Joy is more than enough to support this business. Whatever he did in 1992 was just the catalyst for his present financial state. KJ stands for $100,000.00. 204 mares covered in 2014!

What's the saying...."give me a million (in this case, a cellular network) and I'll show you how to capitalize on it how many times?"

204? you sure about that? That's the most I've ever heard of and I was in the breeding business for a number of years. that's covering two mares a day for 102 days with zero not getting pregnant. That's some pretty staggering figures considering no artificial insemination in thoroughbreds. And I would guess the first thirty days of the season he covered very few due to most mares being in foal/foaling. Did you get these figures from something?

Your correct it is a little over a 100 Average, but I believe he might be doing something with South American mare being shuttled to us?

If Kitten's Joy was such a "money machine," shouldn't his progeny have a higher sales average? Take out the mares bred to him from Ramsay, and then tell me what you have left. Ramsay, can charge what he wants, he can breed all of his mares to him, but his average weanling price is below his stud fee. So as a commericial stallion, he has very limited appeal. How many Kitten's Joys are out there, that are not bred or owned by Ramsay, that have won anything of consequence.

really his stats aren't super impressive. roughly 3% graded stakes winners out of just under 1000. That's nothing super impressive I don't feel. considering Ramsy's have sent their best stuff to him. And probably any outside mares were top of the line. Only 16% of his two year olds are winners. Ordinary I'd say. And his average yearling price is nothing spectacular.
