Particularly hilarious is their insistence on defending the rich by consistently translating the Greek word for “rich” as “miserly”. Of course, exactly the same word is used to describe God, but they somehow manage to avoid rendering Ephesians 2:4 to describe God as being “miserly in mercy”.

Hi, Maddog.

I'm unsure if you're familiar with Shea, but he is not opposed to authentic conservatism as presented by "The Imaginative Conservative", or much of what "The American Conservative" has to say.

The issue that has preoccupied him for some time now against "The National Review" type of conservatism is the willingness to defend torture at all costs by the Republican establishment.

As a fellow Catholic, he would criticize the current conception of liberalism as "license mistaken for freedom".
