I have always been a fan...and from all accounts, he seemed to be a very decent human being...he seemed to fully embrace being typecast as Spock as he advanced into his later years, but it would have been nice to see him get more acting gigs outside that realm.

His last major acting role apart from Star Trek movies was on the Fox show Fringe, which I also was a big fan of...he will be missed...

He'll always be remembered primarily for Spock, of course, but I also enjoyed watching him as Andrew "The Great" Paris, the replacement for Martin Landau's Rollin Hand as the IM force's disguise specialist on Mission: Impossible.

Makes me a bit sad. His Mr. Spock was a favorite in my youth. Remember him as a bad guy in an episode of Columbo too. Will not hold the fact that he directed 3 Men and a Baby against him, everyone makes mistakes in life. There was a rumor that the next Star Trek movie was going to have a scene with old Kirk and old Spock in it, but now we'll never know.

I was at a convention in 1977 in Snowmass, Colorado.
One evening while dining out, I turned and at the next table to me was Leonard Nimoy - less than 4 feet away.
I was tempted to ask him for an autograph to take home to my kids.
But I didn't. No need to interrupt his meal.
Apparently, he was in that resort town making a movie with Burl Ives.
Certainly, I would have liked to have seen Ives too, but I never did.
Rest in Peace - Spock.

I was barely out of high school and took a girl I really liked to see it.. I had no complaints ;)

As far as bad guys, he played a lot of them, especially in old TV westerns..

Yeah sad day. I was fan of the 'In Search Of' series in the 70's and of course Len was a huge reason for its popularity. The DVD set finally came out a few years ago after a long wait. He will be missed.

I have a connection to both Leonard Nimoy and to "Three Men And A Baby". As a young boy, I had seen Leonard Nimoy on a couple occasions, only he wouldn't have remembered me. First off all, he was eleven years older than I was. Yet, we both grew up in a section of Boston called Mattapan. Leonard Nimoy had originally lived in Boston's West End (it was later torn down). Nimoy's father owned a barbershop near Mattapan Square. I would occasionally get haircuts there. I'm pretty certain I saw Leonard Nimoy at the barbershop on one or two occasions.

As for "Three Men and A Baby". I believe one of the stars of that movie was Nancy Travis. Nancy Travis -you knew she was going to be somebody even in high school - was a former student of mine. In fact, her family lived about a half-mile from my house.

On a radio show here this morning it's said that William Shatner didn't attend Nimoy's funeral. He had an engagement he couldn't break.

FWIW, the host also added that Shatner couldn't afford to take a charter flight.

I read he was doing a Red Cross benefit that was raising 8 million dollars and was planned over a year ago. One of those deals where they give big money to take a picture and have dinner with Capt. Kirk. Kind of hard to bail on that I guess.

Yeah, I was going to mention that but you beat me to it. I didn't read any full explanation at the time I first posted this morning. Shatner's daughters did go to the funeral if that means anything.

Thanks for filling us in, JR.

Minus having a transporter room with Scotty to make it so, William Shatner is doing good getting around for his age. Who here can please everyone when your not a stay home couch potato.

RIP Mr Spock.

Btw, regarding this ridiculous funeral controversy, nobody knew better than Nimoy what a bastard Shatner could be.. ;) :D

Last night, on a rerun of the The Man From U.N.C.L.E. both "Spock and Kirk" were guest starts, as was Col. Klink!
