This race could produce a solid price this afternoon at Golden Gate. My favorite of the bunch has to ERNEST SHACKLETON. This horse is far and away the classiest of the bunch and his pedigree is freaking outstanding. He has a +25 on our pedigree scale...thats ridiculous for a race like this. The only question remains whether he will like the synthetic turf. This is a horse that has won against solid company in Ireland, moved across the pond to Santa Anita in December, ran a solid warmup race and finished 7th, then came back into form and won his last time out. Only three horses in the field don't have either a negative HBD EP or a negative HBD LP (Harmonic/ConquestTyphoon). He should be in the middle of the pack and have the first run coming down the stretch. And if we can find anything close to his morning line of 12/1, this horse is an overlay waiting to happen!

The pace in this race has some question as well. INDIANAUGHTY has shown some early speed in a couple of races in England and he has shown that he can handle the distance his last time out on the Santa Anita turf. Again we are hoping that he can handle the turf to synthetic switch, but most of the the foreign shippers tend to handle it pretty well.

This is probably the weakest overall field that we have seen in the Derby Preps the last few weeks, other than the two European shippers, none of these guys have the class to really make a run at more points down the line. CONQUEST TYPHOON will likely go off as the post time favorite and he probably should be, but other than a good run in the Grey at Woodbine, his wins and races haven't seemed to impressive.
