Aqueduct today....I bet the early pick 5.....my bet 3/2357/12346/2/135

My 3 runs second in the opener to a first timer at 7-2 odds, and I hit the rest of the sequence which paid $35,890 for 50 cents....so after race 1 I play the pick 4....my pick 5 ticket cost $30 with a single in the first leg....naturally you would think I would play the same ticket in the pick 4 for $30 like I usually do....wrong....since I saw a runaway winner in the opener I thought I should stick with speed so I altered my ticket ever so slightly....by ever so slightly I went 2357/1246/2/1235.....i threw out the longest shot in the second leg and added a horse in the final leg.....the longest shot in the second leg got put up after an inquiry in the second leg.....pick 4 paid $4321 for 50 cents

Coulda woulda shoulda wah wah wah I know but this really sucks

I had the first four legs in the pick 5 (I went all in the third as I didn't like the entry, or anyone else for that matter) but singled the 2, who in my normal fashion finished dead last. I didn't see will pays to the 2 (I avoid them, I think its bad karma) and I honestly don't want to know.

Horse betting can turn you from a genius to an idiot back to a genius again in about an hour. Unfortunately, we've all been there. Sorry OP, that's a tough way to lose, when the results lay out for you to make money and something gets in your head that beats you, those are the worst kind...knowing that you made a mistake to get you beat and not something that happened on the track.

You were close, keep grinding, you handicapped good, stay the course.

You are indeed an idiot, but not because you changed your ticket but for playing pick 4s. Unless you are a pro and declare all your wins and loses and have very large bankroll, you should not be playing bets where the government grabs a bunch of your money on the spot. I have always had the opinion that what the IRS does not know is usually a good thing for me. Think about it for a while.

Don't give up. Many great players have been there. You were an idiot :) for one day but just make sure you learn from this and never be an idiot again. Don't forget this (in a good way).

You're not an idiot.
It all balances out in the end.
Perhaps six months from now(or sooner) you'll make a similar switch on a ticket and the horse you add will come in for a solid score.
