Pretty rare for a Pick 3 pool to get scooped at a major track, but it happened twice at GP today--$29,000 for the sequence ending Race 8, and $17,000 for Race 9. Maybe the same person both times?

I’ve seen Charles Simon occasionally run a horse at NYRA, but am not familiar with the Owners (Kurt Luscombe & Gary Marsh) of J.C. Monba, the horse that keyed these payouts...so I’m not going to suggest there was some kind of coup. But somebody somewhere was onto a good thing here.

The horse ran twice last winter at PENN in PA state-bred maiden dirt sprints, beaten 12 lengths and 14 lengths. The 7th race wasn’t exactly full of world-beaters, but after that record and being on the shelf for 11 months, and never having run run on the turf, maybe the tip-off was JC Monba being only 37-1 instead of being 107-1. In 8th place going into the turn, he 5-wide circled the leaders like they were running in slow motion. Tip the hat to whomever...

It's the owners only horse.

The claiming price was less than he sold for twice at auction and there is turf in the pedigree top and bottom.

Had a real nice ork at Palm Meadows 2 weeks ago.

The jockey had to help the price.
