...a metaphor for all that's wrong with racing, and a reason why we need strong federal oversight with a powerful commissioner. Do we really know how the donuts are made, what goes into them? And who gets to enjoy them, anyway? I'll tell ya, the horsemen (the haves), not the bettors (the have-nots). The bettors are the heart and soul of the game, the true center, but there's no there there. Horsemen are eating around the donut, getting fatter and richer, but after they eat it all there will be nothing left...for anyone. A commissioner would replace donuts with Danish.
