Schenectady was one the sites recommended by the state and will almost certainly get a casino license. Given its proximity to the Albany Capital Region, no one from that area is gonna make the longer trek to Toga when a brand new facility is closer.

Looking at the other locations, one is at the location of the old Concorde Hotel, a stone's throw away from Monticello Raceway.

The other is very close to Finger Lakes. Looks like horseman welfare is about to wind down.

Monticello is the only track that "benefits" from this so far as their parent company was awarded the license and allows for the agreement that was recently signed with the horseman to go beyond the initial 2 years. Whether the track stays in its current location or gets moved to the new building remains to be seen I believe.

Tioga Downs is also on the losing side of today's decisions and track operator Jeff Gural is none too pleased.

The SOA of NY seems to think that the promise they once were given that a new harness track would be built on the Concord grounds is not going to happen. I'm hoping this changes and the track is built. If they build a harness track on the Concord grounds, and do it right, this could conceivably be the nicest harness track in North America. The property and location is beautiful.
