"medium" distance

Hi Guys,
I've seen HK handicappers use a medium distance as well as a short, and long. I know sprints are less than 8 furlongs and more is a route in american racing. Do any american handicappers make use of a medium distance in their figures? If so what is it?

If you mean categorically, yes. In our system we quantify distances as:

Mini less than 4.5f
Dash 4.5-5f
Sprint 5.5-7f
Route 7.5-9f
Marathon 9.5f+
