Nebraska fired Bo Pelini who in 7 years has won exactly 9 games every year. A lot of fans want Scott Frost who is asst coach at Oregon. Frost was the qb on the national teams in 1990s.

Husker fans will not be content until there is a return to the Glory Days of Bob Devaney and Tom Osborne with Nebraska a contender for the "National Championship" every year.

I'm from Nebraska, I'm a huge Husker fan, I agree 100% with the decision to fire Bo. It's very simple; his record against quality opponents (I'm using Top 30) is bad....

Year Record
2014 0-2
2013 1-2
2012 4-3
2011 2-3
2010 3-3
2009 1-3

Overall 11-16

**I got the information from Sagarin's archives and they do not go back to 2008 (Bo's first year as head coach)**

His 9 wins per year don't look so good in this light:ThmbDown:

I think that the quality of the opponents is a bit higher today than it was back in the Devaney-Osborne Era.

There is difference between being 9-2 and 9-4. Nebraska fans have figured that out. We had a guy defeat a sitting regent by promising he would do everything in his power to get rid of Pelini. This has brewing for a couple of years.

I saw an interesting stat posted by Mike Kratville on Facebook. (He's a big N fan.)

Bo Pelini went 26-25 against opponents that finished with winning records. 40-2 against .500 or worse."

That was usually enough to get you to the Orange Bowl back in the old Big 8. :p

They look like pikers compared to Ohio State.........they should have never joined the Big14

They were the big frog in a small pond in the Big 8. Been down hill since then.

Too many great recruits are choosing "beaches and babydolls" in warm weather locales, it wasn't that way (as much) a few decades ago.

He seldom got the top recruits, although he was pretty good at getting a recruit that turned out better than expected. If you watched the Husker this year at all, you got the impression they were a bit on the slow side for a "good" team. It seem like every year, the Huskers were always young someplace that hurt them. He was never able to get the right mix of young talent and experience that it takes to be really good football team.

Did the notion that he seemed to be an angry a**hole have anything to do with his firing? He never seemed to like it there, or appreciate his fortune to be a Big10 head coach. I'm kind of surprised he lasted as long as he did.

Sometimes that is (lack of blue chip)talent, but a lot of times that indicates a ceiling on the level of play-calling.

I think here they took around at the returning talent level and thought "we ain't beaten Wisconsin next year either". Nebraska has got 1 returning player who may have 1st or 2nd round talent.

Nebraska has never been a school to get many top recruits. In the past 40 years I don't recall them ever having a top 10 recruiting class.

Yes, according to what I read. The Nebraska AD is a big Energy Train guy who believes that yelling is unproductive and drains energy. I am guessing that Lombardi and Hayes would not be coaching under this AD.

Bud Grant would be his first choice:)

Nobody noticed this before they hired him?

Earle Bruce got canned at Ohio State after two 9-3 seasons.

He coached a few more teams but came back to Columbus to do radio and TV.

9-3 won't cut it anywhere in the Big Ten for long

Actually I think he would have been hired by Nebraska earlier instead of Bill Callahan if not for his demeanor.
