I’m going to use this thread to posts the results of the contest each day, so it will makes it easier for me to compare results of different days. Please reserve the other thread for picks only.

Also, if you have any questions or complaints about scoring or whatever, use this thread.

There’s still time to sign up for the contest. Use this link and click on option one.

That will end on Friday. After Friday, you won’t have enough days to make your ten picks.

Contest got off to a rough start yesterday. The good news is everyone survived; the bad news is that five played and only three counted, the mountain cancelled their racing. Not that there were a lot of tracks to choose from.

NAME SCORE
1-Enigma: 0 points
2-LAP_520: 6 points
3-Redboard: 8 points

So after day 1, Enigma is in first place by picking the ML favorite at the eighth race at Parx. Nice!

I’ve put your number of legal picks in parenthesis.

We had a couple of casualties on Wednesday: HIGH NOON RIDER and Freudie Anne won their races.

Since some picks have been negated through cancellations, scratches, purses or whatever, on Saturdays- the 22nd and the 29th- you’ll be able to make TWO picks. But remember, the contest still only allows a maximum of ten picks total, so if you make two picks those days, you'll have two more byes.

I’ve included an attachment of the results report, which shows how I calculated the results. Let me know immediately if you see any errors.

The only scoring tweak that should be considered is giving a zero to picking the ml fav.

All ml favs are not the same.

Only a pick of a ml fav of 2-1 or less should rate a zero score

you could almost go a step further and just say no zeros, just closing odds in tenths.

I hear you. Although I think someone should get rewarded for picking the fav, no matter what the odds. It really makes it tempting to pick the fav when you get zero and from the audience's (which includes me since I'm out) perspective, it's more interesting to watch favorites in a race lose, or win since that knocks someone out.

A 7/2 fav, is more risky that a 7/2 where there's also a 2-1 and a 9/5 in the race. Without the zero incentive, no one would pick the former.

But I'm open and maybe we can't vote on the rules for the next one.

Glad you're enjoying it. Can't believe I made that pick which booted me out.:bang:

But I'm having fun following the survivors. This is not as easy as I thought it would be.

Today's Saturday and you're allowed two picks.

Only two days to go so Enigma will need it to get the required 10 plays.

If you are going to possibly vote for next round, here is my idea.

The pick must be from the track designated that day and must be a ML favorite from one of that tracks races. Tracks rotate daily from around the country, but what track on each day is listed specifically at beginning of contest. A scratch does not count as a loss, but if no other horse is given as a replacement that day, 2 horses must be listed next day. As before, 3 optional bye days and an unreplaced scratch can be designated as a bye if contestant still has them. If a track cancels races before close of all racing that day, the day counts as success for all contestants.

hhhhhmmmmm interesting. I'm thinking we have the next one in January. We can kick around the new rules until then. Unless someone wants to take the mantel and run one sooner.
