Northwestern, down 40-37, just used it's last timeout with a minute 36 left in the game. ND has the ball and 2nd and 8 at Northwestern's 31 yard line.
Why risk anything? Just go down on a knee on 2nd and 3rd down. That will take 40 seconds off the clock twice. Then decide what to do on 4th down on Northwestern's 35 yard line with no more than about 15 seconds left in the game.
Or do what ND's coach did on 2nd and 8 at Northwestern's 31 yard line with a minute 36 left in the game and Northwestern out of timeouts. Have the QB hand-off to a running back. :eek:
I had no stake in the game. But I was surprised the ND coach wasn't roasted by the announcers before NBC left the air.
